“Stay away! Bed bugs!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at this flea bag hotel in mid-June this year. The bathroom was dirty, the walls paper thin and the beds were hard and had plastic covers. Oh, and did I mention the freakin' BED BUGS?!?

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. Absolutely aweful.

We just arrived from Paris and we stood 5 nights there. The hotel is very well located, just 1 minute walk from the metro station. We took breakfast one day but It was really expensive and just around the corner you can find beautiful cafeteria with nice french pastry shop with all kind of delicious fresh sweet pastry.. The room was really small specially for a family, there is no room to put your clothes, but it was clean, we did not spend to much time in the hotel so it works for us. I think is not three star hotel, probaly 2 star hotel. The people were nice and helpful.

Dear guest,

We thank you for taking the time to leave a comment . It's a pleasure to read that you appreciated the location of the hotel, the cleanliness and the service.
If you booked a superior room with an extra bed, it is effectively small for three but we have also triple rooms in the hotel with 2 bathrooms
According the new french standards, the hotel is really a three star hotel.
We hope to welcome you back
Best regards.

My fiance and I recently went on a whirlwind trip through Europe that included a 3 night stay at the Classics Hotel Bastille in Paris. This was a small, European style hotel that definitely reminded us we were not in the US anymore. We had a nice stay there, however there a few important things to know before making a reservation.

PROS:
- Very friendly staff! Helped us map out our day to Versailles through the huge maze of Paris's metro system. Truly amazing the size and scope of the system, unlike anything here in the US.
- Very clean
- Close to metro stop
- Close to grocery stores and shops
- Updated bathrooms
- Affordable

CONS:
- Extremely small. Reminded me of some hostels I've seen in other parts of Europe, though much nicer. Room was essentially a bed and a seat. Could not turn around without hitting something.
- What is with the extremely hot water? I scolded my hand it was so hot. Seems inefficient to heat water to that temperature as you don't cook in the bathroom.
- Tiny shower, constantly knocking in to the walls
- Not exactly the best location. However, I understand this is what makes it afforable. Can't walk to touristy spots.

OVERALL: This is a small, borderline cramped hotel. However, it is clean and updated (for the most part) and staffed with friendly people who speak English (Thanks!). You are close to the metro, but don't expect to walk to touristy spots. If you want to be close to everything, look elsewhere. I would probably look elsewhere on my next trip to Paris with a bit more space even if it's a little more pricey.

I stayed in a single room on the top floor, and had a large balcony (about equal to half the size of the room itself). The balcony had a nice chair and little table, and it was lovely. One of the other rooms on that floor seemed to have a balcony but I'm not sure that all rooms in the hotel did. The room was a decent size and extremely clean.
The breakfast area was nice, breakfast was also nice, and the patio area was very pretty (unfortunately too cool and damp the mornings I was there to really enjoy). The subway stop is literally right outside the door of the hotel, and there is also a bus station right around the corner.
Staff were very helpful and friendly (and patient, given that my French is not perfect).
I loved it so much, I've booked it again for a return trip. For the price, it is hard to beat.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms with balconies (on the top floor)

We booked a short break in Paris and saw this hotel advertised. Like others we read the reviews on it and they came up as very good, so we decided to stay at this hotel. It was located just round the corner from Charonne underground station on Line 9. On arrival at the hotel the receptionist spoke good English and was very helpful. We had booked a room with a double bed, on enquiring further we established that the rooms with the double beds faced the street which appeared quite noisy from the reception. We asked if there were any quieter rooms and were told that there were only twin bedded rooms at the back of the hotel so we took one of them. (106). The room was small but adequate, clean and tidy with an ensuite bathroom and toilet. There were tea making facilities and hair dryers, tv and telephone provided. The beds were basic and comfortable. There was very little space in the room to put your suitcases. The walls between our room and the next one were paper thin and we could hear the next door occupants talking in their room, together with the opening and closing of their door was quite noisy. However, you could hardly hear any noise from the traffic outside. Breakfast was included and was of the continental style, with cereals, hams, cheeses breads and pastries.(not a great choice if you have a gluten allergy). There are lots of restaurants / bars to choose from in the street outside with a small supermarket nearby. All in all we were happy with our stay, and staff were very helpful and welcoming. The hotel provided basic food and accommodation and the facilities and ideal for bed and breakfast travellers and not those seeking luxury and sumptuous surroundings as a hotel dweller!

Room Tip: The quieter rooms are at the back of the hotel, but dont have double beds.

Spent 4 nights here. The place is super quiet, very clean and the location is fantastic! Just a minute from the metro (line 9), bars, restaurants and cafes. Didn't take breakfast at the hotel, many options outside. Most recommended

This little hotel in the 11th is close to the Metro and just off Blvd. Voltaire. We stayed overnight Friday to catch a train to an extended vacation in central France returning on the following Saturday to stay three more days to visit Paris. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean and well maintained. The second stay was particularly nice as we were given a room on the 6th floor with a balcony overlooking the courtyard and the roofs of Paris.
I can't speak for the breakfast as we did not take it. But there is a fantastic bakery a few doors down ( towards Bl. Voltaire) that makes lovely quiches, and pastries to take away. The long line at the door says it all!
If you wish a four star stay this place might not be for you but if you wish a clean, quiet base to explore Paris at a reasonable price then I would highly recommend this hotel.
