“Great location, but so do others...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013 via mobile

Had a room at the rear so managed to get some quiet sleep, but that's about as far as I could go in recommending this hotel. Well other than a great location but so do others. Can imagine it gets very hot in full summer.

Hotel Malar is located in the 7th district of Paris, and is a great location for guests. The hotel itself is a small, 22 room hotel with adequate rooms, and honestly small showers, but how much time do you want to spend in your room?
We recently stayed 5 nights, and the staff was very friendly and helpful, dispite my limited French. We were able to walk to the Eiffel tower and Musee D'orsey, and the 69 bus on the corner got us to the Louvre in 15 minutes. The hotel is located one block from Rue Clar with its many shops and excellent outdoor cafes. Bakeries and grocery stores are around the corner.
I would definitely stay at this hotel on a return trip to Paris.

Room Tip: There are no elevators in this three story hotel, so if stairs are a problem, you may want to reques...

Great hotel, staff all speak good english and are polite, room very clean with toiletries and fresh towels everyday, breakfast 11euros each fresh pastries, juice, tea, coffee, cereal etc. Great location.. close to everything you would want to see in paris. Cafes and bars all within walking distance of the hotel.

Not the cleanest place, but by Paris standards it was descent size, with a full size bathroom. A fantastic location close to the Eiffel Tower, tons of great restaurants, and public transportation. Also very quiet if you get a room off the street.

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the street, no traffic noise at all

Hotel Malar is in an excellent location. It is minutes away - walking distance - from everything you need - great cafes, an amazing bakery and many popular sights. The staff speaks English (a very big bonus when your French is cereal box at best) and knows the area well. They're always there to greet you if you're coming or going.

The rooms are not large. However, this is Europe and that's not unusual. The bathrooms are proportionate to the room, and the shower is not meant for the average American. However, the water is hot and it will get you clean so there's not a lot more you can expect from it. Internet is fast and free. The windows open.

Downsides are the lack of an elevator and the thin walls. Lack of an elevator isn't a problem if you've been snacking your way up and down Rue de Cler all morning! The stairs are also very narrow and twisty, so take this in to consideration when bringing your luggage.

This was my first time in Paris and I would stay at this hotel again, providing I book it with an outside source - the hotel's site rates are way too high for what you get.

Room Tip: The double beds are two twins pushed together.

Good location, friendly and helpful staff, but very small stairs, rooms and shower. Ruined carpet and unfinished stairs, floors and walls. Way too expensive for an uncomfortable stay. Much cannot be changed, it is an old Paris building. But a lot could be improved.

I found the hotel fine for my needs. Wanted to be near friends staying in Hotel Eiffel 7 nearby and this (€130) is under 1/2 the price of that. I negotiated b/f compris for no extra on booking. 4th floor and no lift (but I need the exercise!)
October so room warm but I could open the window to cool it. V small shower and room is just bed/wardrobe/desk & no floor space but I just slept & washed here. Quite clean. Location excellent - near metro shops Eiffel. Great selection of eateries nearby. Found the reception friendly. Wifi worked 24/7 and free. For Paris this was good value.
