“affordable austerity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012

With no TV or Best Western pictures to spoil the room, this is one of my favorite places that I can afford to stay (as long as they keep up the massive discount) off season. Only a little grunge in the tile grout faulted an otherwise perfectly clean room.

“For the price... for Paris, pas mal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2011

Not bad for what it is. It is a hostel of sorts, small (warning to large Americans), but, for my wife and me, quite comfortable. The wi-fi signal didn't reach our floor... but only minor inconvenience. The high storey room meant a relatively quiet night. The windows were sufficiently insulating of traffic and street noise. The location is extremely convenient for metro, and La comédie française!

Didn't have the breakfast, but it is an option (in tiny space), and conveniently offers tickets to various Paris attractions!

We had very low expectations, and were pleasantly surprised!

The staff, it has to be said, were part of what is good about this hotel: polite, welcoming and professional. In the end, if you are visiting Paris, and only need a safe place to set down your bags, have a shower and a sleep (no romance, here), then this hotel is for you! Why pay more, when you can be comfortable, safe, and have extra spending money for the shops and restaurants!

Room Tip: Be nice to the staff... say 'Bonjour, Monsieur/Madame' and 'Merci! And have a nice stay!

Bonjour,
thanks for your comment, I am glad to see that my team helped you to enjoy your stay in our fantastic city.
I just wanted to add that we are getting a serious face lifting to the hotel this winter ; after March 2012, all rooms will have be renovated and you will have the possibility to enjoy more comfort (flat screen TV, rain-shower, queen-sized bed...) in a contemporary design : romance is back to Paris !!

“Pas extraordinaire”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2011

Second trip to Paris and decided to stay in Hotel Louvre Richelieu, mainly for Location. It is definitely very very convenient, within walking distance to majority of the attractions, and being located in district 1, it was a very cheap price to pay.

Point to note: Be prepared, room was very very basic, just beds, uneven flooring, not sufficient light, bathroom was very small. However, this is expected for the price that you are paying.

I wasn't very pleased about the wifi though, being on the 5th floor this would mean that our room was very far away from the router, I had to actually step out of my room, sit on the stairs for the wifi connection.

Overall: Basic stay, simple price do not expect much but it was a pleasant stay as staff volunteered to help my parents carry their 30kg+ luggages up and down the hotel when we checked in and out. Cheers to that! :)

Bonjour,
and thanks for your comments.
The hotel is currently (Decembre 2011) closed for a serious facelifting!
For your next trip, you will find here renovated rooms with all the modern comfort : air-conditionning, flat-screen TV, brand new WiFi system for a high speed-connection from the rooms, well equipped bathroom (rain-effect shower, hair dryer,...). And of course leveled floors, and new sound-proof windows. The size standard will be significantly higher, but still in the Parisian pattern...

And we have kept what you liked here : an unbeatable location - 400 meters from the Louvre - and a friendly staff, always willing to help!

See you soon again in Paris !

“A hostel at best”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2011

I stayed here for one night. And l was extremely disappointed. I delayed going back to my room as l didnt want to sit in a room with no windows....only a sky light. To make things worse, the room didnt have a toilet or shower, you had to use the communal showers/toilet. The free wifi barely had any bars, and kept dropping out!
The only good thing about this hotel was the location, plus the staff were friendly enough.

Bonjour,
sorry to hear about your disappointement. But you did book a room with no bathroom en-suite, i.e. only with shared bath facilities. Sometimes some of the vending sites are not very clear about the description of the rooms and can be misleading. Unfortunatly, we cannot help as we have no control on that.
The wi-fi is working correctly now, sorry if the internet-service was not at the top during your stay.
On the other hand, I am glad to see that you appreciated the location (that is the main asset of our simple hotel) and the welcoming of our team.

“Best cheap stay in Paris!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2011

If you are like me and my business partner (i.e., wife), you won't spend but a few hours in the hotel, sleeping and getting ready for the day's adventure. So why pay for three star leisure? We received a warm, hospitable welcome from the staff; were offered tickets to the Louvre to avoid the long lines... but we passed as we were planning to attend on free-entry day anyway: first Sunday of every month.

The room small and clean; thankfully, no TV. Lovely view of the the offices across the street. The room was street-side, but we were very impressed with the double-glazed windows to keep out the traffic noise. Plenty of closet space and hangers; extra blankets. You could see that the place had been painted fairly recently, but nonetheless dated. But again, you don't stay in a Paris one star hotel for the interior decor. Incredibly convenient for the METRO, nearest stop is Palais Royale-Musée du Louvre. Most nights, we were out 'til very late, past metro running times. But since so conveniently located, and safe, we simply had long walks home from Saint Michel, Notre Dame, Quartier Latin, Musée Cluny, the late night cafés, etc.

You must visit the boulangerie next door and buy a copy of Monsieur le boulanger's memoires of Paris from a time gone by. Ok, full disclosure: this was a business and leisure trip. Don't expect a romantic getaway. Not a honeymoon suite of any sort. Just a place to leave your bags, and drop in at night. Oh, yes, and free Wi-fi; and the staff offered to keep our bags after check-out! What's not to love.

Room Tip: Close the Comédie Frainçaise: visit the café!
