“HORRIBLE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2009

stayed here for 1 night, we were ment to stay for 4 nights. Beds were horrible, staff were horrible, the hotel was horrible. before going we read reviews on the hotel, did not believe them until we got there. staff do wait outside telling you to shut up. draging suitcases up spiral stairs was back breaking. The lift did work, however when you stood on it, it sunk (we are not fat either). Only 1 fire exit so if you are on the top floor, you have no chance of getting out. The balcony in our room came away from the wall, so be careful if little children are about. GLAD WE ONLY STAYED 1 NIGHT!!!!!

Very well placed, in a quiet street. Possibility to have your car parked in a closed area in the neighbourhood (best ask before your arrival). We booked by Easytobook, for a very reassonable price (regarding other prices in Paris), breakfast included. I was a little anxious for the breakfast: we had croissant and bread, with jam. you could take more bread and butter if you liked. Orange juice and coffe/thee/ hot chocolate a volonte. Coffee was "horrible": you'll wake certainly up! But the room: you have what you pay for: a bed, television, and a bathroom. A good shower (!). But if you want a cosy room, this will not be your place: paint comes off the wall, only TL- light (very sharp), nowhere to place your bags: romanticism you will have to make yourself... The (very little) elevator is out of use half the time, but we have a tip: one of the metallic doors doenst close by itself: help it a little be pushing slightly with your foot when it closes. We bought 10 tickets for the metro, but only used 2 of them: if you are a little sportive, everything is doable by foot: the cité, eiffeltower, pigalle, sacre coeur, arc de triomphe, louvre, grand palais... So: excellent location, reassonable price for a hotel to stay only to sleep and have a shower.

My classmates and I just came home from a 5-day trip to Paris with our school. One of the first things we noticed at arrival were the extremely shallow, dark, chamfered steps on the stairs. We had to turn on the lights to see the keyhole.
The room had a nice height to the ceiling, but everything was colored in an obnoxious yellow-green. The room had a stench of 'old', as if it had been isolated for years.
The bathroom was not very pleasant. It had a stench of pee from the moment we entered it. There was no shower, only a bath tub. There was only half a roll of toilet paper for 5 people, and we did not recieve any more. Only two towels, a small and a large, was present, and we were not sure whether they were changed throughout or not.
The lighting of the room was done by fluorescent lamps, that all were unadjustable and impossible to hide for cozy lighting.
The hotel owner was extremely rude and absolutely unreasonable: on arrival, we agreed that he would close and lock the door at 1:00 am. When we one night then arrived a little before 0:30 am, the door was closed. After careful knocking, we furiously walked towards us, and yelled at us for being late. Twice we checked the time, and then told him how we had agreed the closing time, to which he replied, and I quote: "my hotel, my rules".
The only good thing about this hotel is its location. The area is packed with resturants and bars, and there are rich opportunities for metros/trains to all of the attractions worth watching.

Do not go there!
this is a warning!...

My friends and i, stayed at the hotel for just about a week.
the staff was horrible, not a single smile, not a hello ...
they locked the doors and 24.00, although they said that they would close it at 01.00..

The beds were also horrible.. so horrible some people considered sleeping on the floor..

the worst thing was that the owner threatened every single one of us by demanding 20 euro from us if we talked at night...

  • Liked — location which was bad but he best thign about it
  • Disliked — staff, hotel. and so on

Just returned from 3 days at this hotel. Do not go here if you are looking for luxury! This hotel is basic but clean. We were on the third floor and had to climb a very rickety staircase to our room. the corridor to the room was in darkness due to the lighting being broken. We had to use our mobile to light the way and to find the key lock!!

Breakfast was coffee, juice, rolls and croissants, and although we only went for breakfast once it seemed fine.

The big plus point for this hotel was the location. A 5 minute walk took you to the metro which linked to all the major landmarks.

Also the area around the hotel had a number of different restaurants, most of which had offers on set meals.

I stayed at the Hotel Comprador with a group of American college students in the summer of 2005 for two weeks. Paris was great -- the hotel was just okay. The staff were friendly, and the continental breakfast was sufficient for us each day (croissants, juice, etc.). It was a short walk around the corner to the metro station. Nearby amenities included a movie theater, post office, laundromat, and numerous restaurants, including small French cafés, Japanese seafood, fine Italian, the Hard Rock, and a McDonald's (of course).

However, there were some snags. The hotel bathroom was not very nice. The showerhead was a handheld unit, as is common in Europe, but there was no way to mount it on the wall, so we had to keep putting it down in the tub, picking it up to rinse off, etc. It made quite a mess. For a couple of days we mysteriously lost cold water -- there was plenty of hot water -- which made showering quite uncomfortable. There was a lot of street noise early in the mornings, but that's to be expected in Paris (I took ear plugs). I brought my laptop with me, and locked it to the TV mounting bracket in our room whenever we went out. I was a little concerned about the possibility of theft, but nothing happened.

While our group of college students was well behaved, there were a few other student groups that came and went from the hotel during our stay (mostly other Europeans) and they were often a little raucous. I think they may have been high school students, so I guess that explains it.

In short, the Hotel Comprador would be a decent place to lay your head at night if you are a young person on a budget and don't require luxury accommodations. However, unless things have improved dramatically in the past couple of years, you could probably find a better place to stay.

Note that the Hotel Rex next door was (and probably still is) managed by the same people as the Hotel Comprador. It may have had nicer accommodations; I don't know, since I never ventured over there.

The rooms were dirty, pubic hair all over the bath and sink on arrival. Blood smeared on the curtains. 1 large dirty towel between 3 of us. Intermittent lighting, Very basic breakfast lukewarm water for tea at breakfast. No access to tea, coffee during the day or evening if desired.
Carpet that your feet stuck to and a couple of interesting insect bites on various parts of the body.

A shaky bannister on a spiral uneven dark stairwell. No emergency exit. An air shaft type structure which housed old mattresses and various smoldering cigarette ends No access to safe deposit boxes and advised by staff not to leave anything valuable in the hotel as it might be stolen.

Loads of noisy shouting german school pupils running up and down the stairs at all hours

If you don't like sleeping rough avoid this place
