“A good 2 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

I've never been to a hotel that didn't have a sign outside! You'll find it over the Indiana Restaurant. Enter through a side door. Strange.... However, once inside you'll have a friendly welcome and you'll get good value for money in a nice area of Paris. Very basic but the loos work and the water is hot. Handheld shower in a battered bath but clean towels each day. Very comfy beds. Room 22 is very small with a single and a double; Room 26 is larger with two doubles. Paid the same. Nice breakfast room; light and airy. Would go back but request larger room. Very good position; easy walk to Montmartre and of course just around the corner from the Moulin Rouge and the Museum of Erotica! Actually, much to our surprise the latter was well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room and if you don't like narrow staircases request a room on the first or sec...

Nicely located, could serve as a "Le Faulty Tower" decoration. Rooms are a bit worn out and small, with shaky furniture and poor ventilation. 2 out of 3 sockets did not work, nor did the internet for 2 out of 3 nights ( was fixed several times according to the manager ). The bathrooms lool like a horror movie decoration, but provide hot water most of the times ( water pressure is minimal, do not expect a nice hot shower ) and just some light. There is an elevator, suitable for 1 person with suitcase or two skinny people and one baguette. It takes about a week to travel to the 5th floor so try walking up. Tricky and uneven stairs are to be considered a threat when coming back from the town after some of that delicious local wine. The towels are changed every day and the rooms are serviced as well. The noise from the intersection is constant ( car horns 24/7 ) and if you close the windows, you might suffocate from no ventilation. View is great, location convinient, area gives you the experience of the real Paris, not the posh touristy but the multi-culti, loud and dirty and fast moving city. Metro is close, bakeries and restaurants are close, even the Moulin Rouge is close to the hotel. I did enjoy my stay and I liked the hotel even though the bed gave me a back ache that lasted a week. If the prices were a little lower, I could recommend it to everyone. I have no idea where the ** rank came from, but for sure the hotel is quite an experience :)

The hotel does everything right which is why I have given it 5 stars, not because it's a 5 star hotel but it does exactly what an ideal 2 star hotel should do. The location cannot be faulted it is 1 minute from the front door to the Place de Clichy Metro and there are several excellent bars and restaurants, plus fast food joints, all around the place. Reception staff were friendly, efficient and spoke very good English. My room was on the second floor and although I had booked a single room I actually had a double bed (and another single in the room). Everything was perfectly acceptable 2 star standard, comfortable bed, good TV (no BBC channels), decent storage and cupboard space, reasonable size bathroom with a shower over a bath. To be honest there was no wall holder for the shower head but on the other hand the water temperature was easy to set (even from the mixer taps) and was very constant.
Breakfast was served on the first floor in a nice airy room and consists of the classic french, juice, hot drink, croissant and half a baggette with butter and jam, what I liked was this was brought to you not left out overnight or buffett style as in other places of this standard. Excellent stay with no real problems and lots of things right, I expect I will use this hotel again if their prices remain reasonable.

Room Tip: Watch the slightly uneven stairs, always put the stair lights on to avoid accidents

Located very close to a metro station, Moulin Rouge and Montmarte, the Place de Clichy served as a terrific base of operations for our Paris trip. The helpful staff guided us each morning to the attractions that we wanted to see. The hotel has a new owner who is making major investments in updating the property so the quality of the rooms will improve. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The best part was the value. This hotel should be a four star hotel and we paid a two star price. Our family will gladly stay at this hotel on our next trip to Paris.
