“Not a bad hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

I wasn't made to feel very welcome by the attitude of receptionist staff though they did help us with requests for taxis and booking tours quickly and easily. The room was dark and small but this was still good value for money as it had everything we needed, it was clean and tidy. The location was good for walking around Paris.

Simple hotel, pretty central and easy walking distance to most sights within half and hour. The rooms were clean and tidy; good selection of continental breakfast.
The receptionist were very helpful and would book you in anywhere you asked.
A taxi to the main districts was circa €10-15 each way.

There is parking around the corner at a 24/7 parking garage costing around €30 a night, which isn't bad for a city, however you need good special awareness to get up the ramp!

The magenta in general is an average hotel, the rooms are basic with a tiny tv, but when you're in Paris these things can be overlooked. It has a very convenient location, jacques bonsegent metro station is a couple of minutes away and going around by metro is very easy, the lane that takes you to the station is a main one so getting from the city centre and main attractions is not an issue. Getting from CDG to the hotel by train is very easy....

We spent 4 days at the Magenta Hotel and we are very happy about this place. The location is great to explore Paris as it is close walking distance from the several Metro stations. The superior room was clean and spacious for a Paris hotel. We had a nice view on Montmartre and the Sacré-Coeur and on the Eiffel tower from the windows. The service was good and the breakfast was perfect to start the day on the right foot. All in all this is a very solid choice for a hotel in Paris.

One thing worth mentioning, the top floor rooms are not directly accessible with the elevator, we had to climb 1 flight of stairs with the luggage. Not a big deal for us, but it might be important to you.

Room Tip: We were in the Superior room and were not disappointed.

We stayed for 6 nights. Good location,2 min from the metro, Going to airport is convenient. Good breakfast but same menu everyday. Shower are terrible and staffs are useless....We complained on the first day the shower were extremely low pressure and The owner agreed to have someone to fix it. We returned in the evening and it was worsen than before. We kept complaining and they insisted it was a full house not agreeing to have room change. They send a woman up who we seen working in the breakfast area, she concluded it was working normal. We have no choice but to spend more than 20 mins in the shower....

Room Tip: Test the shower as soon as you entering the room.

We stayed here for 14 nights in September. First impression of the hotel was favorable - lobby and breakfast room are modern and clean. Then we got to our room. The dirty socks (one laying against the wall, the other hiding a bit under the bed) left by the previous occupant suggested that the cleaning staff may be a bit lax. The room was small (as expected), and not well furnished. Although there was a small wardrobe for hanging some clothes, we were forced to live mainly out of our suitcases. The bathroom featured an odd hinged glass half partition for the shower which helped to keep water off the floor, but did nothing to help with getting in or out of the deep bathtub. Room maintenance was not up to our expectations. When we arrived, the hair drier didn't work, the towel shelf in the bathroom was hanging partly off the wall and several of the lightbulbs in the room were burnt out. Two weeks later, none had been fixed - the front desk did have a portable hairdrier that we could use. Our overall impression of the hotel, above the lobby level, was that it was a bit shabby, with hallways and rooms in need of some maintenance and painting.

That being said, there were some positives. The bedding was always clean and the bed comfortable (no sign of bugs). From conversations with people staying in other hotels, we learned that our breakfast offering was very good, a selection of hot and cold items, and some absolutley wonderful pasteries. The location also worked well for us with the Metro station less that a block away, bus stops near the hotel, and the train stations within easy walking distance.
