I've read bad reviews of this little place and figured that some travellers might not have been realistic. For paying 120 Euro a night in a great location in Paris, this hotel has provided all I've expected:
- reasonable proce
- clean and quiet room
- friendly service
- decent breakfast
- safe neighborhood (for single woman)
For the house rule, I really wouldn't mind to not eat in my room so that the place could be kept clean and nice. After all, this is not a 5-star hotel charging 5 star price for room service in which the price of clean up big mess made by irresponsible guests!
I've also found the staff (Chrissie.. I guess she's a part timer). She speaks and is willing to speak in good English .. She also has tried to accomodate to questions and request ... She has made my stay pleasant.

I loved the Hotel Valadon! Traveling as a party of 3 didn't make it easy to find a hotel. Some hotels couldn't accomodate the third person and the ones that did charged an extra fee. Hotel Valadon's rate for the 3 of us was less than or equal to the cost for 2 people. Our hosts Victor and Maria (and Othello the dog) were friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. The room was the perfect size, we especially liked that everyone had their own comforter. The room that we were in had windows that opened up into a courtyard. The dining area was small but comfortable, breakfast of a croissant and a roll with Victor's homemade jams was just enough. I loved having a fridge that we could use to keep picnic makings or drinks cold. Also available were a computer terminal, paris travel library, wine for purchase, newpapers in several languages, and glasses, plates and silveware for your own inhouse picnics. The location was great! Located behind the Eiffel Tower, a block away from a market street, 2 or 3 blocks from the metro.

We booked 2 nights in Paris at the Hotel Valadon after reading the glowing Trip Advisor reviews. We're so happy we did as it was the perfect place for us. Affordable but still quite nice, we had the ground level terrace room. It was unique, private, comfortable and clean. Maria and Victor were great hosts, and they were available every morning at breakfast to serve up free croissants and homemade jam and answer all of our touristy questions. (Paris is not cheap, so do not discount the value of a free and yummy breakfast!) The area around the hotel is not overrun with tourists, and you almost feel like a local. Our only disappointment was that we were there on a Sunday and Monday, when many things in Paris are closed.

Maria and Victor are great hosts and have a great hotel. Comfy, great location ,and a comfortable stay. Othelo was there to great us, Victors jam is the best (mine got confiscated at the airport--carry on luggage--didnt make it past security).

This was my girlfriends 1st stop on a Paris, Amsterdam, and Venice trip.
