The Hotel Valadon is fabulous. Stayed two nights (not long enought!) in December, 2007 and only just realised I hadn't written a review of the hotel.
I booked the hotel directly and paid $100 Euros (cash) for a room with king bed, ensuite and lovely view over the street.
The bed in our room is the comfiest bed I've ever slept in - it was like a cloud. The room itself is very simple - bed, bed side tables, full length mirror and ottoman. Small desk and tv mounted on the wall. The colors and furnishings are very stylish and make excellent use of the space - the room is small but very comfy.
Breakfasts are lovely - croissant, juice, coffee all served in the naturaly lit breakfast room.
The hotel has a small 'honesty fridge' in the lobby - put in 2 Euro in the box and take a can of coke or a beer, etc. I loved this. It was a nice touch and faith put in their guests.
The hotel also has a nice selection of books and brochures available and the owners were always so helpful with recommendations, directions, etc.
The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring the 7th and the Eiffel Tower, but you do need to catch the Metro to Sacre Coure or the Moulin Rouge - but Montmatre is fair distance away from the centre anyway.
We walked from the hotel to the Eiffel Tower, up to the Arc De Triomphe, down the Champs Elysse (sp?), the Louvre and back to the hotel. This took a few hours, give or take an hour or two for stopping.
Overall - a fabulous little boutique hotel that is big enough for privacy, but small enough to make it special. Fabulous location near Rue Cler markets and restaurants.
I would definetly stay there again!!!
