“Birthday treat”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

This hotel was booked by our kids as a present and although the reviews were mostly negative, I kept my mouth shut and hoped for the best !!
This was booked through Jet2.
On arrival, the receptionist was not the friendliest or welcoming of people. Our room was cramped and basic and yes, like many reviews before this overlooked a very noisy cafe. Our bed was not a double but twins and although the room was clean it was very hot at night as you had to close the window to keep the noise from below out.
Breakfast was adequate as was the shower room.
The day receptionist was a lovely lady; could not fault her. Very sweet and pleasant. An incredibly helpful person unlike the receptionist on nights.
Doubt we'll stay there again due to the negative comments above but the cafes in the area were 1st class...delicious meals, although not cheap !!
The Metro is only a 3 minute walk away from the hotel, and you are soon in the heart of Paris.
Taxis to and from the airport are expensive. Their meters go at an incredible speed. You are looking at 40 Euros for a one way trip, plus the tip that they seem to insist on

Room Tip: Room Tip: try not to get a front facing room, or better still look elsewhere

we thought the beds were very comfortable--although house keeping kept pushing them together -----we walked from Gare du Nord with google maps instructions----met friends at local cafe--- we got a 3 nights price of 2 deal---would recommend to friends-- rooms were smallish but very acceptable for what we were looking for.

Room Tip: we got 2 single beds

I booked this through Jet2.com. 1st 2 nights in room 201. The tiniest room I have ever seen. Not even a double bed! My husband and I struggled to fit and I am only 5'2". There are four bars outside and they are VERY noisy until 2.30am! No aircon so very hot and uncomfortable and no chance to have window open due to noise outside. I asked for room change after 2 nights of sleeplessness. Room 509 was much better. And they put a large electric fan in there for us. Plus - 2 mins from Lamarck metro; then 10 mins into Paris centre. Buy 10 metro tickets for 13 euro. 5 mins from superb Sacre Coeur.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor.

We just arrived in Paris after cycling more than 600kn from Amsterdam, and all we wanted was to get to the hotel. The neighborhood is great, but upon arriving at the hotel, the first thing the man at the reception desk did was to try to push my girlfriend's bike out the door, to which she defiantly resisted. We were allowed in the end to keep our bikes in the terrace. After a very rude and harsh check-in, to say the least, we went up to our room: tiny and hot, with no air conditioning. I opened the window to the loud noise of people on the street hanging out. The bathroom shower leaks water to the floor of the bathroom and from there to the bedroom, where the carpet is permanently stained from the leaking water, and the room smells like mildew. The wi-do, which costs 7 euros for three days, gave us a hell of a time to manage to connect, after being obligated to watch a Pampers advertisement. To wrap it up: stay at the Ibis if you are looking for a good cost-benefit ratio.

Location is great, in the outskirts of Montmatre, although beware of the STEEP set of stairs to access the metro. Receptionist was always pleasant. Bathroom smelled of mildew and sewage but was clean. Noisy bars are downstairs which make it hard to fall asleep as they keep on going until 1 AM, but it is quite a festive environment, so I didn't mind much. Overall, good-medium value for the money.

This hotel has small rooms and bathrooms, but so does every place in Paris. There is no A/C but at this price it is to be expected. No wifi is available but may of the bars have free hot spots, you just can't pick them up in your room. Now for the positives, great and friendly staff, free breakfast, metro is 200 feet away from the front door, and restaurants/bars right outside the front door. This is definitely a great sleeping spot close-ish (2 mile on foot) to the Eiffel tower, but with all the night life, construction outside during the day, and no A/C, don't expect the kids to sleep well here.

My husband and I just got back last night from a week stay at this hotel. We wouldn't recommend it to anyone traveling to Paris from the United States.

The room was extremely small. We couldn't hardly put our luggage on the floor without it being in the way. We slept on 2 separate beds, smaller than a standard U.S. twin size bed. There was no AC. It was extremely hot in the room so we had to take cold showers just to cool us off so we could sleep at night. We didn't know that this was standard in hotel rooms in Europe and something we wished we would have known ahead of time. The bathroom is tiny as well. You can barely move in the shower. One day, we came back to the room to freshen up before going to dinner to find that there wasn't any toilet paper. So we had to ask the receptionist for some more. That was very frustrating!

I will say that the ladies who work during the day at the desk were extremely nice and tried to help whenever possible. Just like some others have mentioned, they don't speak English real well but they are still helpful. We had some troubles with the guy who works at night. Just like others had mentioned, you have to keep your room key with the receptionist. One night we came back to the hotel from getting dinner and drinks to find him sleeping in the chair in the lobby. We didn't wake up right away to open the door. That was very frustrating. The day before leaving (Sunday) we asked him if we could book a ride to the airport. He asked us what time we wanted to be there and made the phone call. Once he got off the phone, I had asked him what time we were supposed to be in the lobby. He got an attitude with me about that. Then my husband asked him if there were restaurants at the airport (we didn't look around the airport when we landed because we were exhausted). Again, he was very rude to tell us there are.

The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk away from a subway station and several bistros/brasseries close by. One of the cafes has free wifi that we would use on a daily basis, since the hotel's wifi isn't free. We were told that we needed to be careful of pick-pockets around the hotel. We never had any problem with that.

Overall, I wouldn't stay here. If my husband and I go back to Paris, we will not be staying here. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! We couldn't wait to get home to AC, our bed, and shower!
