“Very good indeed.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012 via mobile

I have just got back from a 3 night stay here. It's a great little hotel, only 2 minutes from the park with the eiffel tower. Rooms are small but clean and modern, and you'll be in Paris so spending as little time as possible indoors!
We didn't go for the breakfast, €10 is a bit steep for what's on offer and there is a wonderful patisserie just round the corner.
All in all a really enjoyable stay and we'll be staying again when we come back to Paris.

A lovely hotel in great location. The room was very clean and the staff very helpful and pleasant. No complaints about the room - possibly on the small side but absolutely fine for short break. The bathroom was clean (no mould !!) and shower very good. The area is amazing. Walk to Eiffel Tower in 10 minutes and Champs de Mars. Loads of restaurants in the locality making it difficult to choose from - however, rue Cler is very buzzy in the evening. I went with my 15 year old daughter and felt very safe walking around late at night. The only problem was the noise - we did go in prime holiday period though. Would certainly go back there.

Room Tip: Be aware that can be noisy at night !!

We've stayed in Paris a few times and have come to the conclusion that a well chosen 2 star hotel for 100-130 euros is perfect if you are out all day. Our friends were paying 390 euros (for a bar, a bigger breakfast choice, a gym room service etc - none of which they used). Adminttedly they had a bath (which they never used) as well as a shower. Anyhow, this hotel is super clean, super well-run, confortable beds, all refurbished, in a quality way, a couple off years ago. It was perfect for us and easy walking distance to Le Tour Eiffel and lots and lots of lovely cafes and brasseries etc. Top spot and recommended.

Very modern decor. suite was immaculately clean. bed was comfortable. room had window to other building which let it in air which was great. on a quiet street so no road noise. very close to eiffel tower. 10 min walk to metro. lots of restos, cafes, etc in the neighborhood including the christian constant restaurants. excellent location and great value. would stay again.

free wifi. i forgot my north american to euro adapter and the front desk had one! great service.

only thing i didn't like was it was noisy when there was something above me. i could hear people walking up/down stairs and hearing people walking in room above me. it's like the floors were extra noisy.

room was tiny but that's typical paris from what i understand.

did not eat breakfast there so no comment on that service. really there are tons of cafes nearby for cheaper so don't pay for breakfast.

Room Tip: away from the stairs. noisy there.

Our hotel was located approximately 5 minutes from the Eiffel Tower - we were THRILLED about this~ There were numerous cafes located near by, as well as a sweets shop (yum!) and a store to buy fresh cheese (a must in Paris). The room was very clean, and a lot more modern than we thought it would be. It included a double bed, flat screen TV, small table, and small bathroom with a stand-up shower. All in all the room was great.

We had no complaints about the actual hotel location or quality of the hotel, our issues arose when we spoke with the man at the front desk. We noticed early on that he was quite rude to other guests staying at the hotel when they had requests... one woman came to the desk to ask about where her daughter was staying and he rudely replied "What do you want". (it was the tone he used to say it that was inappropriate). Also, when other patrons would approach the desk he would not even look up to speak with them until he had COMPLETELY finished whatever it was he was doing.

In our particular situation, we noticed on day 2 of our stay that our electricity was not working (i.e. telephone, TV, outlets, etc). We approached the front desk to advise the clerk of our issue - he initially pretended to write our room number in a log book (it was odd because he didn't even write anything down).. and said perhaps it could be fixed in a few days... which meant no electricity in our room that whole time. He also could not switch us to another double sized room. At this time in the conversation he asked us if the electricity worked BEFORE we entered our room ... we answered yes, and he then replied "well then its not our fault". He basically told us that since we "broke" the electricity, he would not be fixing it during our stay. It was UNREAL. We couldn't believe it... so we spent the remainder of our stay there (2 days) without an type of electricty. This was a HUGE damper on our vacation. It was hard to accept that when paying $170/night, you can't expect working electricity.

I should also add that the Cleaning Staff were rude to the patrons as well. If you were in their way during cleaning, they were not pleased, nor did they attempt to move any of their items out of your way when you were trying to navigate the steep stairs at the hotel. On one occasions I had to lift my very large suitcase over all their cleaning supplies while they watched without offering any type of assistance.

I'd advise travellers to look at other hotels located in the immediate area of this hotel... as the location is great, but customer service is not valued at Hotel De La Paix and this in turn could profoundly effect your time in Paris.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are very loud - one night we had a dog parking from 4 am - 8 am. I'd req...

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They found a place to store a baby stroller on the main floor, instead of cramming it in the room. The rooms are small, but very clean and modern. The hotel is on a side street so very quiet at night. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Eifel Tower, and 5 minutes to Rue Couer, which is a trendy cobblestone street with lots of cafes and restaurants.

This was one of those surprises.....good surprise that is. This hotel is very close to Eiffel Tower, is very clean and has a great staff working for you. The rooms and batherooms are smaller but the bed was very comfortable. If your looking for a great value and don't need much room, this is the place for you. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
