“Decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

The hotel itself was pretty good, I had a single room, but it's pretty tiny for how much you're paying. The breakfast was decent & the staff were very helpful.
The major downfall is the area...it's great for the close proximity to the Gare du Nord station, but if you are female and traveling alone or with one other, the men in the district are very overwhelmingly forward and downright creepy. Other than that the hotel itself was pretty good.

Our room's bath drain was stucked during taking bath. That was terrible and not comfortable.
Reception representative were good and kind to passengers.
Elevator was really small and old.
Towel linen was really clean.

This hotel is within walking distance from the Gare Du Nord train station, so it is very convenient as we had taken the train from the airport. We arrived with a sick child at 9.am and the front office was very firmed in stating that check in time is after 2pm. But she relented and seeing how sicj my child is and got the housekeeper to clean our room as a priority so we got into the room qucik smart and my sick child slept for 20 hours on his first day in Paris.

I thought that the ability to be flexible showed the hotel is run by human and not some robotic staff, which meant that I am very happy to recommend this hotel to everyone.

The room we took was a family room, with attached bathroom. It is tiny but very clean and the furnishing is all very modern and good standard. Bathroom is cleaned everyday and towels changed. We had a room facing the street so it is a bit noisy. The hotel must be closed to a hospital, because the wailing siren of an ambulances do interrupt my thoughts every so often. But I am always happy to hear it receeded when it got to the hospital and always praying that who ever was in that ambulance was OK. Interesting where an ambiance of a place takes you.

From Gare Du Nord, one can virtually go everywhere- we took the bus to Galleries Lafayette, Notre Dam etc, it is surrounded with shops and restaurants - even a halal restaurant, so it is very well located.

My family and I had a good experience here. Although rooms are small (which are normal for Paris), it was quite comfortable with the baby bedding as well. Walking distance from the Train station, I would definately recommend this hotel to anybody who are travelling by train to Paris. The staff was also excellent, always willing to help. The breakfast buffet was also good.

We booked this last minute through hostelworld.com. We booked a private double and it had a private bath. We were in a room that ended in a 4 and those rooms have two balconies since they are located on a corner. The room was quite adequate sizewise for our luggage. The room and bedding were clean. There was some mold in the shower but otherwise the bathroom was small but sufficient. There is a blowdryer in the bathroom. The location is very convenient to Gare du Nord (approximately two blocks). You can use the metro for transportation to most sights. We had problems figuring out the tickets for the metro as the machines only took coin and credit cards with chips. American credit cards only have the magnetic strip. If you do a bus tour to the sights, there are two open top buses that both depart from stops near Gard du Nord. Ask the front desk and they will be helpful directing you. Franny was very helpful and she spoke English which helped with our minimal French. There is a free continental breakfast which was a nice start to the day. Beds were comfortable and the noise from the street below did not bother us. Value of the room was good for Paris. We would stay here again.

Myself and my partner booked the Avalon hotel for a 3 night stay. We were told when we got there that they had upgraded our room at no extra cost to ourselves. The room had tea making fascilities and a fridge and cooker, which we didn't expect. There was a safe in the room, which wouldn't open after we had put our valuables in,on reporting this,it was a matter of minutes and the problem was rectified. Breakfast was buffet style and consisted of cereal, croissants, cold meats, juices, some fruit and tea and coffee, pretty repetitive but you could have enough to fill up on. We got around mainly by metro, though you do need a map. It was pretty hectic at times but that was all part of the fun. We enjoyed this hotel and would stay again if we ever went back to Paris. Highlights would have to be the Eiffel Tower, the Arc d'Triomph and Notre Damme cathedral, which is stunning.

Stayed at this hotel from the 14/12/12 to the 17/12/12. This was a break for both myself and my partner. We arrived at the hotel at 1900hrs and from the first moment we checked till we departed the staff were great. We had a problem with our safe and it was delt with straight away. Breakfast was good and the area was clean at all times. I would stay at this hotel again,as it is good for the train station,as well as geting the metro to the centre of Paris.

Thanks again to the staff for making our weekend more relaxing.
