“Great location but unfriendly welcome and poor security”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

I stayed here on a two night business trip, accompanied by a work colleague, and we each had a single room. We chose it for the convenient location.

We arrived at around 9pm. The front desk was unmanned and we waited for around five minutes for someone to appear. The man who eventually arrived was extremely unfriendly and rude. I showed him my printed booking and he stared at it for some while before asking if we'd booked one room or two - it clearly showed two rooms. He never once smiled, or apologised for keeping us waiting or offered us a word of welcome.

The rooms were perfectly adequate, the bed was comfortable and they were nice and clean. However, whilst my companion's was cheerfully decorated mine was painted in a nasty shade of beige with not a single picture or anything to cheer up the decor. My bathroom had a cracked sink and the towels were on a rack at the same height as the top of the door - a short person would have been unable to reach them! There was also nowhere to hang them after you had used them.

There was free WiFi in the room if you were brave enough to enquire from the rude man on the desk who made a big fuss about printing out a ticket with the details and making you sign it.

There was a sign in the room stating that the use of the air conditioning was charged at an extra 10 EUROS per night.

The breakfast was fine and the staff in the dining room and during the day on the front desk were very pleasant.

Security was a big concern for us and we made sure not to leave anything valuable in the room. This was because they insisted we left our room key when we went out of the hotel. However, these were placed in numbered pigeon holes in full view behind the front desk and in view of the fact that there was nobody behind the desk for several minutes when we arrived, anyone could have walked in off the street, picked up any key they chose and gone straight up to the room and let themselves in.

The biggest plus point of this hotel is its great location, close to Pasteur metro station but, whilst it's clean and perfectly comfortable, it lacks charm.

Room Tip: Avoid 54 unless you like beige. Would recommend higher floor to avoid street noise (only goes up to...

The small size of the hotel makes it cozy. Rooms are clean and size is ok. Rooms have a small balcony (2 chairs can fit) with a nice view on the city.
Location is good, the area is very safe, underground stop is 2 mins away and 25 mins walking distance from Eiffel Tower.

Reasonable price considering the proximity to the metro station and walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and River Seine. Not all the rooms face the boulevard, some over look a grotty courtyard and (like ours) serve as the emergency fire exit room. Lucky that never happened!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the boulevard. Great balcony and a view to the Eiffel Tower.

We were quite impressed by previous reviews, especially compared to others in the same price range. The hotel was clean, as was the room. The room itself was also spacious enough, but sadly we didn't get lucky like many others with the view. The main problem was that the walls/floors seem paper thin. We were woken up regularly very early in the morning by other guests getting up for breakfast etc. The beds weren't great, and the wi-fi was unreliable. The lack of shower curtain also made it difficult keeping the bathroom floor dry. The hotel itself could certainly use a bit of work/renovation, the state of the walls and carpets was a bit poor. Overall I thought that the hotel was a bit overpriced for what you get. I would say better to go with a budget hotel brand like Ibis.

Well located. Right in front of Metro Pasteur. Close to the Eiffel Tower. Les Invalides at a walking distance. It's an old building & the rooms are a bit small, but still a good value for it's location !

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. My sisters and I stayed for 3 nights in a triple room. Not very spacious, but we didn't care, we didn't go to Paris to stay in the hotel room! Room and bathroom was clean and that's all we ask for. I was initially worried about the locaton but honestly it's great - walking distance to Eiffel Tower and many cafes and restaurants. Our hotel room even had a tower view!! The metro is not even a block (Pasteur stop) and Gare Montparnasse is just down the street. Very convenient. Hotel staff was courteous, especially the gentleman we met in the mornings - he tried to work around my poor French and wasn't condescending when it was obvious we needed to switch to English! :o) Hey, I tried. We didn't get the breakfast since there were so many cafes nearby and we wanted to try those out.
It's a basic hotel - simple and clean but a great deal! Would definitely stay here again.

Location of hotel is honestly great. You have the subway right in front of you and you are about 20mins to an hour walk away from everywhere!
Hotel was not so good though. Rooms were somewhat clean, but the bed sheets weren't changed every day. Staff was not helpful except for the great gentleman in the morning. He was so welcoming!
Everyone else was grumpy and not helpful. We would ask them for a recommendation and they would answer "we don't know."
I had SPECIFICALLY asked if there would still be construction and they said no. I was woken up at 730-8am every morning and once while changing there was a construction man at my window. Not the best experience!
All in all, I really wouldn't recommend this hotel. You could find better for sure.
