“No glamour but good situation, helpful staff, good breakfast.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2009

Redecoration has started at the bottom and hadn't reached our 2nd-floor room, but room was clean and bathroom well maintained. Staff helpful, and buffet breakfast good - generous by Parisian standards. Lift tiny but functioning. Baggage-room for those who arrive in Paris early and leave late - so you can make the most of your time without having to take luggage around with you. Some noise from neighbouring bar, which is inevitable nowadays because smokers can't, by law, smoke inside, so they naturally smoke and chat on the pavement - but we slept through most of it. Situation (Abbesses) pleasant and typical Montmartre (nb nowhere near Pl. du Tertre, but we knew that) and handy for Metro and bus. We got this hotel via a well discounted deal on the Web and our room cost us around £300 for 5 nights for both of us, including our breakfasts, which isn't bad value considering state of the £. Worth looking out for it on discount hotel sites.

Upon booking this hotel, the main address given was Montmartre, no particular part. This hotel is in PIGALLE. Yes it is 5 mins away from the Moulin Rouge, but it is also off a seedy side street.. The metro station Blanche appeared to be a up point for prostitutes. The hotel itself was dirty and did not give a feeling of comfort. The doors were no stronger than you average bedroom door at home. At no time did I feel safe in this hotel and actually left after one night, happily forfitting my deposit. Neither the staff nor management semed bothered by this. Ended up staying in Hotel Tislitt Etoile... an absolute gem.

I booked a single room, but was given a double all to myself. I can imagine that two people in that room might find it a bit crowded, though I obviously had no such problems. A bit worn, but nice and clean, with the exception of the shower curtain which should have been replaced long ago (thus only 2/5 for cleanliness). Can't really comment about service, but at least there was always a smiling and reasonably english-speaking person behind the front desk. I have to agree with other reviewers about noise from the restaurants and bars in the street below, so if you are sensitive to that sort of thing, this might not be for you. I never had a problem sleeping, though. Overall, I do not regret booking this hotel, and I would consider it if going back to Paris.

Pleasant, reasonably priced two star hotel in good location close to two metro stations, bars restaurants and Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge. Area quite hilly so not good for anyone with mobility problems. Bar across from hotel somewhat noisy on an evening but after hard days sight seeing did not have too much difficutly sleeping. Rooms quite small and a tad on the shabby side but clean enugh and comfortable. Decent size bathroom with plenty of hot water and powerful shower. Breakfast room in basement but light and airey with good selection of continental breakfast, cereals, fruit, croissants and rolls, hot and cold drinks. Staff pleasant enough.

This hotel is in a great location, but in the summer you need the windows open at night because there is no AC. There is a bar across the street where people talk loudly until 4am. When I was there on June 30th, 2009 the electricity went out for the lights, but not the sockets. So, there was no light for the bathroom. I told the front desk, and he just shrugged and said it would be fixed in the morning. For the same price you can stay somewhere much better, like hotel des arts, or hotel Paris France which has AC.

Easter 2009
Rosie, Leeds
A two star 'superior' hotel which is anything but. Lobby is inviting but behind the scenes the very small rooms are grubby & desperately in need of decorating (given the size of the room this would take 2 hours maximum), carpets are filthy, coverlets & mattresses are stained & frayed, furniture the cheapest possible chipboard, holes in walls where appliances have been moved, & the smallest bathroom ever. It's also on the noisiest street I've ever stayed in in Montmartre so windows had to be closed at night - bad in April, impossible in August.
It's a pity because this hotel, apart from the noise, could be as good as other 2 stars I've stayed in. Despite the problems the sheets & bathroom were clean & the breakfast good. Premier Travel Inns, even in London, offer much better value for a similar price.
