“In the Heart of the Latin Quarter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

We arrived exhausted at this oasis in the heart of the Latin Quarter of Paris and were stunned at how beautiful our room was! The little patio was beyond charming and looked out over the bustling pedestrian cobblestone street below, often with musicians or performers playing in the early evening as we got ready to go out for supper. The location was perfect, walking distance to sights such as Notre Dame and the Pantheon. There were two subways very close by, St Michel and Sorbonne-Cluny (with easy direct service to airports), so any tourist sight was easy to get to! We felt as if we were V.I.P. from the moment we walked in - the front desk also helped numerous times from planning our day to finding a restaurant to obtaining airport transport. It is also walking distance to the charming St.Germaine area. We never ate the 12 euro breakfast at the hotel, instead opting to try one of the many patisseries instead. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was heavenly (after traveling two weeks without)! It was very quiet and even with the window open we could sleep (even though there is a lot of people out late partying). The only bad thing to say is that there was a noticeable strong fresh paint smell as it seemed that there were renovations going on in the room next to us - easy enough to get rid of by opening the window. We only heard the renovations once during our entire four day stay, and that was during the day. We loved staying in this lovely hotel and look forward to returning someday!

Room Tip: There is a Starbucks for any coffee drinkers right around the corner on Blvd St.Germaine!

Dear FunintheSun111,

Thank you very much for your kind review about our typical parisian hotel.
We are always glad to hear that you feel like V.I.P. and fall in our charm.
They are very nice compliments, it's like being rewarded for all our work.

Maybe for a new stay in Paris we will welcome you back! In case, it will be a pleasure to know how you feel our Full Buffet Breakfast.

Sincerely yours

My good friend and I were meeting up in Paris for a two day girls' catch up - we wanted to relax and take in the ambience. The Hotel Europe St Severin was just perfect for us. The location, as other reviews have said, is amazing. If you want to be in the Latin Quarter it is absolutely ideal. So close to the Metro, RER and famous sights and so much atmosphere. Despite being in the middle of everything we were not disturbed by Saturday night noise at all.

We had a double room with balcony. Not huge but a comfortable size especially for a central Paris hotel. The balcony was such a great addition - so wonderful to enjoy our pre-dinner drinks and then our breakfast sat outside in the sunshine. I would definitely recommend booking a balcony room. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower room adequate and the air conditioning quiet. Pretty good all in all.

The staff spoke brilliant English and humoured our fairly poor attempts at French conversation without being condescending! They were really helpful at accommodating our requests and we got into our room early which was an added bonus.

I can't comment on breakfast as we got our own in - there are plenty of good options nearby within a couple of minutes' stroll.

The only disappointment was that there was plastic sheeting all down our corridor due to renovation work in the room next door. As the hotel seemed very quiet during our stay I was surprised we were still put in the room but it didn't cause us any problems. A very minor quibble during an otherwise excellent stay.

I would stay here again without a doubt and am planning on bringing my husband to this hotel next time we are in Paris.

This hotel was brilliant. The location was second to none, within walking distance of all the major attractions. The hotel is in a quaint little side street amongst a smorgasbord of restaurants, markets and shops. The desk clerk (Yacine) did more than was required to ensure our stay was truly memorable. We initially stayed for one night in a smaller room than we did upon our return. The bigger room was well appointed with lots of character and charm. It also included a spa bath.
The only down side was we didn't stay here any longer!

Dear Sharon B,

Thank you for taking time to write this nice review about us.

We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us here in the heart of Paris. The only room with a jaccuzzi is the Suite Deluxe, glad to know you enjoy it.

It will be with pleasure to welcome you soon for all the team.

Kindly yours

It's a pity that there is no ranking "GOOD" at tripadvisor as I that is how I would rank the hotel. For "VERY GOOD" it is a bit missing but I still like it.

I have stayed in Europe St.Severin in August 2011 and now came back again in August 2012.

The main advantage of the hotel in my eyes is the location! It is just at the metro station St.Michel, close to many restaurants and canteens, and of course very close to many Paris attractions: Cathedral Notre-Dame, Le louvre, museum D'orsay, St.Chapel etc. You can easily walk to many places in Paris from the hotel.

For the hotel itself: I preferred a little bit old style of the hotel of the last year (last year it had 2*, now it is ranked 3*) for me it was more traditionally French but I guess it's the question of taste. This year the reception is after some small renovations, paints, I guess with some claims to modern style.

The rooms: be aware that the rooms are really small, but very clean and pleasant. I guess when you come to Paris you don't stay long in your room unless you stay in a city for a very long. This time I had single room and honestly it was just the bed and maybe 50cm around it but as I told before it is very clean and has all the necessities. My favorite room in the hotel is the one we stayed last year Junior suite: it is not very big but very charming!
The only thing I would really advise the hotel to change is the plastic undersheets: they are really really uncomfortable! But I just asked the reception to remove it and there was no problem.
If you will open the windows it will be quite noisy until quite late. For me personally it's the charm of staying in quartier Latin but if you have very sensitive sleep it may disturb.

Breakfast is supplementary at 12Eur/per person. Unfortunately I never tried it as if you are not a big eater in the mornings, you can get croissant and coffee for 2-5Eur just outside the hotel.

Of course I would gladly stay in Europe St.Severin during my next visit to Paris again!

The price/night in this lovely hotel is a bit above than what we are used to but I wanted to fix something special for our first 3 nights trip (together) to Paris. And since it was a surprise birthday trip for my love the location had to be perfect. And the price seemed to be considerably cheaper than for other similarly star rated hotels in the area and the TA ratings much better.

Located in the lively 5e arr. Latin Quarter neighborhood the hotel is just a couple of minutes walk from Notre Dame and good metro connections. You can basically get to the hotel from CDG hassle free with RER B without any changes. The immediate area around the hotel is architectonically really lovely, although a bit packed with touristy restaurants and some clubs with touters and all. So we really can not comment the food as we chose to eat elsewhere. Although if we would have spent more nights I know I would have been tempted to try at least one of the restaurants.

The windows from our room (first floor) gave to the street and you could hear noise from the below restaurants and and the street well into the night but that really bothered us next to nothing (had to keep windows shut as it was winter). Also in the mornings some noise could be heard from the garbage trucks collecting yesterdays trash.

The room was reasonably sized and clean. Pretty much the same size as we got accustomed to in our later trip to Paris and definitely bigger than what we are used to in London or Japan. Although we only had our cabin luggage with us but would have had no problem opening a large suitcase to the floor and dancing around the day's shopping without knocking over any furniture. That said, the bathroom was quite small with really little room to leave any amenities lying anywhere near the sink or to have room for two persons to do anything but shower and wash teeth simultaneously.

This hotel was a nice hotel the room was clean and the air conditioner worked. The breakfast was good and the staff was nice. If you like the latin quarter this is a great place to stay. Close to the metro and many places to eat. I would stay there again.

Can't beat this location, it's wonderful! Right in the heart of the charming Latin Quarter & close proximity to public transportation.

However you can beat the unfriendly female staff that were unhelpful with even the most basic requests and rude to us on a regular basis. The gentleman who worked the desk was friendly

Bonus?
Easy wireless
Good central location

Fail:
Poor customer service
Uncomfortable beds
Thin walls
tiny room & bathroom
no shelves or drawers

Room Tip: it's a little noisy on the rooms above the main entrance
