The hotel was just as advertised a lovely old hotel with character. My 13yr old loved the old metal lift and the french breakfast also I have never had such a cheerful waitress. I loved the history of the place and had to try a proper absinthith in the bar. The reception staff were lovely.

Allright, if you really mind the red light, don't stay here. But rest assured, it is no problem at all. The hotel is close to the Metro, and Montmartre starts just across the street. Lots of places to see on foot, and only a few stops into the city center. Our room was really small, and the bathroom even smaller, and it had no view. Furniture ok, but the bathroom should be remodeled soon. It was easy to hear everything from next door, and the water from all the toilets flushed in the hotel, it seemed. Breakfast was adequate, nothing fresh though, and pre-packed cheese, how sad. The price was ok with less than 100 EUR for a double including breakfast. A recommendation, for sure.

Room Tip: 29 is quiet, but only offers a view to the courtyard.

Hotels in Paris are quite pricy and most often breakfast is not included in the price. This is a charming hotel with a very "French" touch and friendly staff. Cosy rooms (ours had a small balcony facing Sacré Couer) with a good standard, clean bathrooms and quite comfy beds. The breakfast was included in our price and it had all you can ask for (no hot items though). Several food stores nearby so it was easy to buy fruit and snacks. Metro is just a minute away from the hotel. The WiFi worked perfectly. The only BUT - and the reason why I can't give a higher mark - is the location. In the middle of the red light district with porn shops everywhere and a lot of people you wouldn't like to meet alone.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms on the fifth floor have balconies.

The rooms were of a decent size and were clean, though the wardrobe facilities looked like they had seen better days. The reception staff on the whole were friendly and the breakfast staff were always lovely. Breakfast itself was also very nice. The location made for easy transport to get around. The only issue was that during our stay it was a heat wave, which meant the rooms were overheated making it very difficult to sleep.

Once you get past this hotel's initial dinge especially at night,...it's charm begins to grown on you. Objects and decor echoing times gone by. A different world. The rooms, adequate...but the owner plans soon to renovate, but preserve the hotels unique originality, style and history.

Borders on the seediness of Pigalle, but an easy cross-through brings you to the magic of Monmartre.

If you are looking modern and sleek, this is not for you. If you are willing to adventure, and time travel, I strongly recommend!!

Room Tip: make sure they have not just painted the room

This is a gem of a hotel just down the street from the Moulin Rouge. In the action, but still tucked quietly on rue Fromentin. The view of Sacre Coeur is amazing and the rooms are spacious and clean. You are close to many attractions and the metro is right in front of you, so you can be anywhere in the city easily. It is in need of redecorating, and does not have air conditioning. I hear they are doing renovations in 2014. I'll stay there again regardless!
