“Good restaurant...suggested!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

We randomly chose this restaurant and we were happy about both the ambient and the food.
We were 2 and we paid 56 euros for 1 starter + 2 main courses + 1 dessert (more than water and coca).
Main courses (steak and fish) were really excellent! Also the dessert (chocolate cake with ice cream) was "over the average"! The quality of the dishes was high in our opinion. We suggest it.

“Real food at good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

Quite a small quaint restaurant with a good rustic menu. Far from fine dining, but good honest grub. We were the only non-French people in the restaurant, which is always a good sign. I had pumpkin walnut soup starter and black pudding main - delicious. My wife had paté and pasta & prawns. Some of the wines on the menu are non-filtered but good quality.
The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was great and the cost was very reasonable - 2 courses €20 or 3 courses €25.

It was -2 degree centigrade outside and we were seated at the front door which was quite drafty, however we asked to be moved and as soon as another table became available we were given it (just before our starters arrived). Other reviewers have criticised the seating of foreigners near the door, but we had no problem being moved. (I also think there is no harm in looking after your regulars).

“Dine here at your peril if you are not french”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Living around the corner we popped in during the week for dinner. The restaurant was freezing cold and seemed to have no heating whatsoever; What upset us was the tables near the door were only given to foreigners (including ourselves) so that we could freeze even more; As for the food, I had coq au vin which conssited of very tough chicken and mushroom shaped pasta, not quite a classic coq au vin - so it will be our first and last visit. Message to restaurant remember that some foreigners are also locals.

“Good Neighbourhood Dining in the 7th Arrondissement”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

This neighbourhood restaurant in the 7ieme arrondissement is just that, a neighbourhood restaurant with good food, service and great wine. Frequented by locals both residents and business people it is set on a corner with typically some tables outside, inside as you walk in there's a bar, a number of tables for casual drinking and dining and then there's a room on the right for "diners". The decor is pleasant, with a red backing on the benches against the wall and tables in front of that, surrounded by a variety of empty wine bottles showing the selection they have, so it's a comfortable place and nothing too fancy, just right.
The service was friendly and very helpful. They have a menu for 20 or 25 euros but if you book through "la fourchette" website you can get a 40% discount on the whole meal including wine and that's a great bargain.
For the meal one had the squash soup and duck (a huge leg) which came with vegetables and the other had the aquataine ceviche and house speciality which is chicken in a pot, the pot contained potatoes, turnips and carrot. Both were very plentiful and good.
Wine, yes wine and that was excellent. No dessert, just coffee and we were done.

“Very disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

We used to have dinner very often at la poule au pot, but the manager has changed few months ago and it has become very ostentatious. Prices have raised strongly, waiters are unfriendly, food is ostentatious and does not reflect French cuisine, only tourists attend this restaurant as all loyal customers have left. To avoid.
