My boyfriend and I booked a standard room in the Hotel des Batignolles after seeing a good deal on Lastminute.com - and we were absoutely delighted. Whilst the hotel is 2 star and the corridors are not in fantastic condition, the room was clean, comfortable, serviced on request and had a lovely view of the cute little patio.

But the best thing about this place was the staff who fell over themselves to give us a great stay. Nothing was too much trouble. They even let me practice my appalling French and were encouraging! I asked for a few out of the day to day requests - a plug adaptor to borrow for my British mobile phone charger, a sewing kit etc and they were really helpful. All the staff we saw were very friendly and welcoming.

The hotel itself is really well located - we walked almost all the time, but it's also right between two close metro stops. There's a gorgeous little restaurant on the corner - Aubergine - that we'd also really recommend for dinner and drinks.

Basically - for those on a tight budget - you won't get a better welcome and value for money than the Hotel des Batignolles.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and it was a huge disappointment, which pretty much ruined our trip. We should've cut our losses and moved out after the 1st night. I knew there was no lift - not a problem, I thought, as we're both fit. However, the stairs are very loud and creaky and in use at all hours morning and night. We were unfortunately situated under the stairs going up to the 4th floor, it was like having a herd of elephants stampede overhead all night.
I had asked for a room on the top floor, as I knew a cheapish place probably wouldn't be soundproofed. However, they put us in a room on the 3rd floor (which they had assured me, when I booked over the phone WAS the top floor!).
The room was pretty shabby, but this was ok, I didn't expect much for the price, and on the plus side, they do keep the rooms clean and change the sheets & towels daily.
After a particularly awful 3rd night, we asked to be moved to a quieter room. They were accommodating and moved us to a better grade room at no extra charge, however, it was still loud and the paper thin walls left little to the imagination when there was activity going on in the neighbouring rooms bathroom.
We looked at a couple of other local hotels, which weren't much more expensive, but infinitely better furnished and more solid looking. If you expect to have any kind of a romantic holiday in Paris, this is NOT the hotel to stay in!
The Batignolles area was OK, but there are better and more central for a budget. We generally walked (20 mins or so) to Montmartre daily for good cafes, restaurants and shops (most of the stuff local to the hotel isn't great, except the 'Aubergine' restaurant, which I highly recommend)
There's so much to do in Paris, sleep deprivation is the last thing you need, so unless you know you (and your partner...) can sleep through anything, definitely DON'T stay here!!

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 4 nights, our room was on the 3rd floor there is not a lift so you have to carry any bags you have. They had the heating on and the radiator in our room couldn't be changed so we had to have the windows open all the time as it was pretty warm out anyway.
The room was basic but quite large and there was a TV, the bathroom was clean and towels were provided, they weren't very good at replacing the shampoo/shower gel/toilet roll when they ran out.
This hotel is near lots of shops, patisseries, restaurants and bars, metro is 5 minutes walk so it is very easy to get to the centre of Paris.
We paid about £66/night without breakfast and considering some of the other prices for hotels in Paris it wasn't to bad.

I booked this hotel as we needed a cheap place to stay so did not expect luxury so wasn't surprised by the very basic room. Apart from the water stain on the ceiling, it was clean and comfortable although a bit drab. The bathroom in our room had been recently renovated so was ok. No mould. Clean towels and bedding. Carpet bit threadbare. Funny smell in the stairwell on way up but room not smelly. Heating was on so very warm. We had to open the windows in October!!!! Only 30 minutes leisurely stroll to the Sacre Coeur where we has a nice lunch outside a cafe. Hotel located in great position with many little Patesseries etc all around and main area with loads of bars 5 mins walk away. 10 mins from Moulin Rouge area. Found the metro easy to use once we'd worked out that the end of the route in on the front of the train. Staff at metro used nicknames for stations which thoroughly through us. We went to Longchamps racecourse for the Prix de L'arc de triomphe on Sunday 5th Oct and got there no probs with a few stop offs for sightseeing on the way. Les Invalides is close for a view of the Eifffel tower in the distance. Overall if I were to go to Paris again I would stay at Hotel Batignolles as it was very reasonably priced and in a great location for everything.

We arrived at this hotel after being ripped off by a taxi driver who charged 31 Euros for no more than a 2 mile trip - so we were not in the best mood. Check in went smoothly and we went to our room on the 4th floor. The hotel has no elevator so we had to use the stairs - this was ok until we reached the final flight which was like tackling the north face of the Eiger. This lead us up to a very small room with barely enough space for the bed. There was also another guest's luggage in the room - she'd obvioulsy been given this room and complained and was in the process of moving. Although small, the room was clean but in need of a bit of TLC. The bathroom was also clean but there was no storage space or shower curtain. Overall - the hotel was okay and may be the best you can do in Paris for what I paid, just don't expect to be too comfortable. Location is good with a 2 metro stations 5 mins walk that are only a few stops from the centre.
