“Shop til you drop, Paris.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

EXIT 7 BASTILLE. You need to know that. Then, do not confuse Rue Saint Antoine with Rue Faubourg Saint Antoine.

( Saint Anthony must have been a great hit around here!!)

Staying in Le Marais is a Parisienne treat. We arrived in a snow storm st 2 am . Everything was surreal. All cars were white. We were greeted warmly by the night porter in this establishment.
Having read the reviews we were wary! However, we do realise that one star is a world apart from 5 star!! We were given
the key to the third floor. Up we trucked ( no lift as advertised) and we arrived at a warm room with fresh linen on the beds. It was all we needed.
The next morning, after a breakfast of orange juice, fresh croissants, jam and coffee we headed out. The male receptionist chatted and guided us. No problem.

Having toured and studied Paris maintes fois, this time we strolled and shopped the Marais, Place des Vosges, Rue des Rosiers,Rue de Rivoli . A shoppers paradise.
All so close, at hand, out the door.
Ok now off to Bofinger!
This " hotel" is friendly in a great location. No problem, Goohle maps will show it to you!! Then
You know what you are getting.

No problem for one star.

“Bad Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

It is located in Marrais, near oh the Bastille.
The place is not bad, it is central, 5-10 minutes walking to the islands. It is located near of the metro.
The hotel is bad. Very bad.
There is no elevator as it is common in central Paris. You have to carry your bages allmthe way up. I was booked on the 5 th floor.
It is not too much clean and too much small.
The noise is common. You can hear all the movements from the other rooms.
The wifi works in the room.
No breakfast.

The staff was terrible. A very rude sir at the reception at night. Rude and not at all prestative, not even for simple informations of the city.
I dont consider coming back.

“Decent and recommendable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Overall – good impression. First of all – helpful and friendly English-speaking staff. They quickly answer on all my emails about the rooms, reservations etc. However we didn’t bombard them with questions and problems, they were ready to help.

We booked a triple room for couple with a child. The room was small but cozy, the same about the bathroom/toilet (private, not shared) with basic supplies (towels, cups, soap, toilet paper); everything was perfectly cleaned; no noises were heard from the outside (or just were we sleeping like the dead?); the beds were neat and the linen was clean.

Excellent location – 50 meters from Place de la Bastille which means metro, touristic hop-on-hop-off bus, restaurants (Bofinger; Chez Clement; Chez Paul), Opera Bastille; also 5 minute walk from Place des Vosges, from the heart of Marais Quarter with excellent L’As du Falafel, from Musee Carnavalet.
More about the location – don’t be confused between Rue Saint-Antoine (where the hotel is located) and Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine; both streets rise from Place de la Bastille but in the opposite directions. That cost us some extra walk at the first evening…

Free Wi-Fi Internet access was useful; just ask for it on the reception.
I can’t rate the breakfast, as we preferred to eat outside.

Now some disadvantages.
Of course, it is the stairs. I am pretty sure it costs them 1 or even 2 rating stars. There is no elevator and you have to lift yourself (with all the bags, at least once) by the narrow steep stairs. Even descending with the baggage requires some physical skills – our room was on the 3rd floor. On the hotel’s website they honestly warn everyone about the lack of the elevator, so just keep in mind – you have been warned too.

The furniture (cabinet, table, chairs) is quite old but it seems they make effort to keep it proper.
Of course there is no refrigerator.
I can’t rate the heating system – we were in Paris in September, and it was neither hot nor cold.

The value for money – 4 out of 5.
Finally, we stayed 2 nights with no negative impressions but moved then to another hotel – just to experience more of Paris!

“Good location, lively area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

The room we booked was basic, clean and tidy - although cannot open windows so it got a bit warm during the night. But hotel location was fantastic! Head out and it's all restaurants and pubs and boutiques.
It was confusing when getting out of the metro at Bastille - look for the bank of France and that's the street that leads to the hotel.

“No Elevator”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

Try to get a room on the lower levels as there is no elevator and the stairs are VERY narrow. There is one shared (very nice- I will give it that) shower for every two floors. The rooms are small, walls are thin and the location is okay. Everything in Paris is so far apart I am not sure which location is really good- I guess close to the metro- which this hotel is a 5 min walk. They lost our reservation, which happens, and thank goodness had one room left, maybe explaining why it was so small. Either way this hotel is not worth the money, but most in Paris are overpriced so good luck hunting.
