“Great little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2005

We search for what seemed like months for a hotel in Paris, cross referencing hotels against trip adviser reviews. We found this hotel was in the right location and had good reviews. We booked a superior room for 4 nights last month. We arrived at 7pm and had to email the hotel to keep our room available (if you arrive in the evening email the hotel!). We checked in with no probs and had a lovely clean, bright room on the top floor. Everything was was to our liking and thats saying something as i travel alot with my job and have stayed in some shocking hotels in EU cities. We had the best vacation and didn't bother with the Metro because all the shopping and local sights were within walking distance. I am a light sleeper and thus requested a quiet room. The hotel placed us on the top floor (double glazed) and had no problems sleeping.
When we return to Paris next year we will stay at the Hotel Regent because we had a great time and the staff are very friendly. ENJOY!!!!!!!

Our room was tiny (#16 at the top of the main stairway), but it was amazingly quiet and the location couldn't have been better. We walked right out the door of the hotel into the heart of Saint Germain. We paid 140 euros per night and thought that was very fair.

The location of the hotel is perfect--right in the middle of St-Germain, and our superior class room was quite spacious and very clean. Bathroom was great. Soundproof windows effectively kept out the street noise. Desk staff was very helpful, answering questions and making reservations. Great value for the money in my opinion!

My fiance and I stayed here for 6 nights at the end of April, 2005. We had room 15, which was a little small, but clean and located on the 1st floor (one flight up). It served its purpose, being that we weren't really in the room for long periods of time.

The staff was very helpful: Sandrine and Ilias (sp?). They were nice enough to help us with car reservations, and also gave us a plug converters to use while we were there. There was also free wifi connection, so bring your laptop if you can't get away from the internet!

It was centrally located, with a wondeful variety of shops, creperies, markets, bakeries, and restaurants. The metro was 1 1/2 blocks away, but we did not even bother taking it. We ended up walking everywhere. The Louvre and Notre Dame was 15 minutes away. Musee D'Orsay was a little bit of a longer walk, but it's a nice walk along the Seine.

Jardin du Luxombourg is also a very close walk, as is the Latin quarter, which is happening in the late hours, with many creperies, falafel and gyro stands. It has a great vibe and you can eat on a bench in front of a lit and beautiful Notre Dame.

I would definitely consider staying there again. It was a great location, as well as very pleasant staff.

I have stayed at this hotel several times before ,made a reservation for 5 nights but left today after one night, there was a stain of some sort on the carpet that had to be cleaned today, so they first offered us the choice to move rooms tomorrow, then called back and said that we had to move today and that the carpet repairmen would be there in 30 minutes and that there "might" be some smell. the other room they proposed was not nearly as nice and it was kind of take it or leave it.

while we were asking the woman at the desk about this the manager of the hotel came down and started yelling at the desk clerk right in front of us, my french is not great but I understand enough that she was calling us "dumb stubborn" americans to the clerk, it was most inappropriate. the manager then stormed off.

we immediately went upstairs and packed and found another hotel down the street. I travel alot all over the world and have never had an experience like this, as totally unprofessional as ever; if there was a problem with the room why did they let us stay there even one night.

I scratch this one off the list for good. your mileage may vary, wish mine had. caveat emptor.

After perusing tripadvisor.com reviews for a reasonably affordable hotel in a central location, we settled on the Hotel Le Regent. What a treat! It lived up to everything the other reviewers said. It's well located - easy to get to from the airport via the RER and a short walk from St Michel/Notre Dame, and only a block from the Odeon Metro making it easy to get almost anywhere quickly. Within a block, there are many decent eateries and interesting shopping. The concierge spoke perfect English and also was most indulgent when we tried to exercise our Berlitz French. We were able to leave our bags safely under lock and key when we arrived before check-in (and although check-in is quoted as 2:00, we were able to get into our room at noon). We had booked a superior room, which was extremely comfortable by Paris standards, and spotlessly clean. We had also found that booking via the hotel's website got us a 20% discount on the price - perhaps due to traveling in the off season. It may have been low season weather-wise, but an early February trip means that almost all of the stores have one of their twice-yearly sales going on, making it slightly more reasonable to bring back a few French goodies! All in all, you can't go wrong with the Hotel le Regent. We'll go back there next time!

Hotel le Regent is a fine location for the Left Bank...right in the middle of le Buci, and a block away from the Metro stop Odeon. The larger rooms overlooking the street are terrific...nicely decorated, with grat baths. Staff helpful and pleasant. Only complaint is the walk to the first floor, where the elevator begins. The price is fine for the room and location.
