I stayed here due to the location - right on top of Rue de Rivoli shopping, the Metro and the Seine. There are plenty of bars, cafes and a convenience store right underneath. The hotel is noisy (street noise, even with the window closed 4 floors up), but that is across this entire part of Paris. Take earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The hotel was very basic and the first person who attended the desk was very rude. He didn't bother to get up to help me open the heavy glass door as he watched me struggle with bags. He practically scowled as he handed me the key and didn't bother to tell me where to find the elevator. The other staff on other days were much more helpful and when I left the lady at the desk was the exact opposite. This place is right on top of an entrance to Chatelet Metro station. The room was very clean, the water hot and the heating easily controlled. They did not give me towels one day and it was a bit of a struggle for him to provide some when I went down later. The major concern was the very dark spiral staircase. There is lighting, but in my opinion it isn't adequate at night for a windy narrow staircase. There is a very small elevator for one person/one bag. I wasn't expecting much for the price. I stayed in a different hotel for a similar price, and the staircase and the sour staff member have put me off using this hotel as my first choice. The internet was suitably adequate, but you have to get a token that expires after so many days. it only works on one device, so I had to go and get a second one so I could use internet on computer, and then make my smartphone work, too.
