“A gem in central Paris...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

The hotel is located in a very nice and safe area of central Paris. Easy to find even for first-timers, accessible by subway and buses. There are plenty of restaurants and amenities close by.

Throughout our stay, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The lobby and room (with balcony) were clean and decorated with taste, they felt very homey and quiet.

This hotel is a gem, definitely will be going back.

I reserved a single room for one person at this hotel. The room was small and unadorned as expected but it was very clean, had quite a nice, modern bath/shower and was in a perfect location for me (Le Marais). I had two issues with this place (1) the front desk staff was not very helpful or informed -- they gave me bad directions when asking about a particular metro station and (2) the general manager was overbearing and was often in the small lobby. I knew this was a room for one, but late one night I offered to let a friend (of many years) crash in my room so he didn't have to take a train to the suburbs at 2am. The general manager / director would not allow it and was very disparaging in her tone and language with us. She treated us as if we were lying and that we not not really friends. She was rude and completely over bearing. At any other hotel (for the rate I was paying:95-115 euros and the length of time I was staying: 6 nights) I would have been allowed entry with a guest.

Room Tip: Don't get a single unless you plan to stay single the entire time

After spending some time trying to book a hotel in Paris that wasn't full (the MILIPOL event had Paris accommodation in high demand), I stumbled across this little gem.
The area is quiet, yet a walk around any corner will have you immersed it all that is Paris.
Whilst the rooms are quite small, they are sufficient and comfortable - especially if you intend on spending more time exploring then sitting in your room. The hotel staff are lovely too! Very friendly and helpful and don't mind sharing a joke with you. All in all I was very happy with this hotel.

Small hotel, located in a quiet street in one of the nicest areas in Paris. Rooms are small and very basic. Nothing good or bad to say about them. Beds are reasonable. Very small bathroom. Very clean. If the only thing you need is a clean room to sleep at, then this is a great place to stay at. Location is perfect. Front desk staff seemed nice as well (didn't use them much). One issue I had was that They didn't have irons to borrow.... So had to go to work with a wrinkled shirt.... I will probably be back.

Pro:
Safe place to stay (which is one of the most important)

Clean bedroom, bath room and towels change everyday. excellent for its price.

Mr.Zild will go beyond front desk to help you book the taxi, find good place for dinner, print out your reservation! his caring service just beyond 5 star hotel. Thank you Mr.Zild ( if I spell his name right)

you won't go hungry cause there are tons of lovly café and late market stores open.

BHV mall just around the corner and Hotel de Ville metro just across the street.

Soap and shampoo (no hair dryer)

This is the basic hotel to put ur belonging in the room and go out enjoy Paris!

Cons:
The hotel is right where the action is! maybe too close to the action as the street noise can get to you even pass midnight. Le Cox just one street down.

Tons of lovly gay bars and café so if you are homophobic then you shouldn't travel.

Overall:
if you looking for romantic bed of roses fancy hotel then this won't do for you. but if you want to save money for safe stay basic hotel then this one for you.

Let's face it, it's expensive to visit Paris! But when we contacted Vieux Marais 3 years ago, we found an affordable place in a great neighborhood. So we came back to Paris this May and stayed at Vieux Marais again and were just as happy as the first time! Some major renovations have been done to the rooms and the lobby and both are beautiful. This is not the Ritz, but the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is big and sunny. The concierge helped us find great restaurants in the neighborhood and pointed out sights and places to shop.
The area in Paris called the Marais is the best place to stay in Paris. It is trendy, unique and a great neighborhood to wander in. And the Louvre and other big sites are within walking distance! I highly recommend Vieux Marais if you want a comfortable place to stay without breaking the bank.
