We booked the hotel based on the reviews here and were very pleased.
The location is excellent. Lots of restaurants, bakeries, etc nearby. We traveled from DeGaulle airport to the RER Halles stop and walked to the hotel. It was about a 15 minute walk.
Check in was very efficient and friendly. I tried my french, but we eventually switched to english. Yes, the lift is small...it's a very old building like most hotels in Paris, and the other hotels we've stayed at in Paris have had similarly small lifts. It's not a big deal, you might have to make two trips with all of your luggage.
The rooms are also a bit small, but again, normal for Paris...especially in desirable areas. We had room for our luggage, the beds, and not much else. When we booked, only twin rooms were left (meaning that the room has two twin sized beds). At check-in, no doubles were available, but the room had the two twin beds right next to each other, so it was sort of like having a double bed, but with each twin bed made up with separate linens.
The internet service provided by the hotel was intermittent. We spent about 24 hours with a "limited or no connectivity" error on our computer. Eventually it fixed itself though.
The breakfast is pricey, but you can eat a lot to get you through the whole day. We ate breakfast at the hotel on one of our four mornings during our stay. There's a very nice bakery around the corner on Rue Coquilliere (turn left on that street from rue du Bouloi). It was closed on the weekend we were there, but it was also a holiday weekend. So, on normal weekends they might be open.
Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel. It's in a great location and very reasonably priced.
