“Good value for its location and for a Paris hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

We chose this hotel on balance due to its location and price, as the hotels closer to the city centre seemed exorbitantly priced. While it's not in the heart of Paris, it's a 2 minute walk from the Raspail underground railway station, and approximately 10 minutes from the major RER B line that services Gare du Nord and Charles de Gaulle airport. It's relatively close to restaurants in Montparnasse and shops, and the main attractions in Paris can be easily accessed by public transport. Montparnasse is a quiet area in Paris so you could get a good night's sleep. The room itself was clean, however the toilet area and shower was cramped. The staff there were very kind and also spoke English.

Great location near the Raspail metro station just southwest of Luxembourg Gardens. Of course, the rooms are small which is normal for Paris, but there is a lift to carry your luggage. We were on the 5th floor with a nice view. After a hard day's touring, we had no trouble going to sleep, but be forewarned. The walls are paper thin. You can hear your neighbor's every sound (and I do mean every). I'm normally a light sleeper, but I used earplugs and didn't have a problem. It's a gamble whether or not your neighbors will be considerate or if you'll wind up with a party animal next door. The staff is pretty friendly, but one guy had the personality of a Louvre statue. We only ate the 10 euro breakfast once as there were plenty of nearby options. On checkout, we were charged an extra 2 euro per day for using a credit card, despite my showing Mr. Personality a printout of my supposed daily rate. (Our credit card is probably the most well-known in the states so nothing exceptional in that regard.) Whenever there is a surprise like that, it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but we needed to check out and get to the airport so I paid it with little argument. For you film buffs, the last scene in Breathless was shot outside the hotel.

This hotel is reasonable-value. Rooms a fairly decent size for Paris. Bathroom clean and well maintained.

Breakfast is ok - usual bread, pastries, coffee;

Convenient location, close-ish to Gare Montparnasse - good for road and rail routes to the West and South West.

Personal downside - quite soft beds, so sleep was 'good in parts'

We have just spent four nights in Paris at the hotel Istria for our wedding anniversary. We were delighted with our choice. The hotel is located close to a Metro station and within walking distance of a wide selection of bars and restaurants. We found the bedroom and bathroom a good size for a city centre hotel in Paris, and the towels were refreshed daily. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We would happily stay here again.

We stayed here for 1 night. We were lucky to be aloud to check in 2 hours early. The rooms were small but when your only in there to sleep you do not need anything else. Bathrooms are decent in size and clean.
We didn't have breakfast in the hotel. It's not worth the 10 euro extra per person. Instead we went to La rotonde en montparnasse just down the road which was amazing. However you will not have trouble finding small bakeries around the hotel.

Location is fantastic. The metro just outside the hotel takes you directly to the Eiffel Tower, arc de triumph and gard du nord. Other wise you can change lines to get to other attractions.

We've sent 2 nights in this hotel and were quite happy about the choice.
Our room No. 1 was small but clean and very quiet with the inner yard view. Housekeeping is doing a good job.
The inner yard is tiny and decorated with artificial plants but still looks rather nice.
We did not have breakfast in the hotel so I can't say anything about it.
The personnel speaks English and is very pleasant. Some staff members seem to be a little incompetent but we couldn't be angry about it because they are very sweet and willing to assist.
Location is good near the metro. There's a parking place very close as well. About 40 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower.
The only thing that was upsetting was that I requested a room on a high floor while making the reservation but we got a room on the second floor instead. But as I already said the room was nice so that's fine.
I would surely recommend this hotel and would consider it for our next trip to Paris.

Definitely not a luxury stay, but otherwise good hotel for a short stay to do you Paris shopping/sight seeing runs. Only difficulties was the air conditioning which pushed out a funk that smelled like pee, but fortunately I did without by having the windows open. Otherwise room was adequately clean, and area was safe: my 2 main requirements when I travel!
