“A Veritable Gem in the Marais”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

Have just spent 4 nights in the Hotel de la Bretonnerie, situated smack dab in the heart of the Marais, within walking distance of multiple metro stations, bus stops, and sights such as The Pompidou Centre, Notre Dame, the Museum of Jewish Art and History and multiple other places speedily accessable by metro. The staff were all polite, pleasant and accommodating, the European breakfasts in the wine cellar (cave) were filing and delicious, and everything about the place just oozes charm, welcome and hospitality. Wifi available and works like a charm. I hope to get back in a year or two if I save, save, save. An excellent start for a European trip, or a start to an exploration of France.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor was great, even facing the street. With the window closed there was no apparent noise...

I've been to this little charming jewel of a hotel for years.
Always requesting the same charming rooms. The staff is very accommodating. Ask for Karen who is very knowledgable. Breakfast is as you would expect at any high end european hotel, and well the location is simply tres Parisienne! Wonderfully situated among museums, sites, river boat tours, gay bars, restaurants, boutiques and the artists and bohemian world.
A more perfect taste of Paris at a reasonable price and dreamlike location is hard to beat.

Great location, wonderful staff who was very helpful (and mulch-lingual!). Breakfast included fresh squeezed (in front of you) orange juice, baked goods, cheeses, meats, cereals and options for hot food. Room was spacious (for Paris) and bath had toilet, bidet, sink and tub (with hand shower). Lovely neighborhood with plenty of options for inexpensive to expensive food and bars. 15 minute walk to major tourist locations (Louvre, Notre Dame). Would recommend to family and friends. The only hesitation would be in summer, as the hotel does NOT have air conditioning. If was fine for spring, but would be a problem during heatwave.

This place is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable and if you don't like your particular room, they will try to accommodate you in another! We were in the lobby when someone wanted to be moved for what ever reason. We were on the top floor with with a view of the streets. Wow! Just beautiful and the price was excellent too! The location, could not be happier........unless this was my apartment and not just a hotel stay! The staff were all very nice, even the over night staff. I have noticed that some times the night owls are not the nicest people in the world, well they were friendly when we came back from a night out (2:30AM). Very safe location too. Next time in Paris, we will book there again. The beds were comfortable and the linen was very high end to most. Our bathroom was HUGE, absolutely huge with a great view also of the streets below. Merci!

Room Tip: Well, I can not give any tip for a good room since we had only the one experience. But ours on the t...

We found the reviews to be right on point. Great little hotel, great area (a bit noisy at night - but you must expect this in such a vibrant area), very good price and friendly service; the hotel has it all going well.

Room Tip: Probably best to avoid street front rooms if you can

I was traveling with my mother and two of her friends. This hotel provided us with an elevator to our charming room. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Karen. The neighborhood has many cafés and shops. I would definitely stay here again whether by myself or with friends.

The staff are very friendly to tourists and are helpful with advice about Paris and excursions. Rooms are small and dated in decor, but that's part of the Parisian charm. Chances are you aren't in Paris to hang out in a hotel, so this is a great place to stay the night. The elevator is very small, and there are many stairs. There is a decent Café next door, but I'd recommend taking a walk and finding another to enjoy a morning coffee with croissant. Hotel is close to LGBT friendly establishments.
