“Great location, excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

The location is truly convenient-few steps from a subway and bus station, 10 minutes walking from the main train station and Tour Montparnasse and Garden of Luxembourg. Hotel location is excellent for a walks. (Down the street towards the Luxembourg Gardens on the left side is an ice cream shop. vanilla ice-cream there is a MUST try. It is a first time I tried vanilla ice-cream with a grounded true vanilla.)
We totally enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Bed, pillows and bed linen was a pure pleasure.
The room is small, for sure not enough for a travelers with a big suitcases. Bathroom also is small. But thanks to a good design and thoughtful arrangement this doesn't bring any inconvenience. I would call it effectiveness. Our room was cleaned and towels changed daily, and bath accessories was added two days out of 3. I have a high standards of cleanliness and I can say that our room, bathroom, toilet, towels, bed linen was really clean.
We heard our neighbors coming or leaving their rooms, what is absolutely normal for a tiny hall just for a couple of rooms. It didn't bothered us at all.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short to medium time stay up to 1 week (for a travelers without luggage) and we'll stay there our next trip to Paris.
The only negative thing to mention is that we gave to receptionist two letters and money to send them by post on the next day, as we were leaving on Sunday, and those letters never arrived to their recipients, despite the fact that we have asked for a favor in a very polite way and a guy assured us that he will send them.

Dear Guest,

We thank you very much for your recommendation of Atelier Saint Germain Hotel. We’re happy to read it was a pleasure to stay with us and we’ll try the ice-cream shop you mentioned.

The room maid will be as proud as we are to know that your “high standards of cleanliness” were satisfied. Thanks for them to mention it. Cleaning rooms is a hard work when you want to meet expectations of everyone but they like it and do their best.

Regarding the last point, we will make an inquiry but sometimes mails delays are longer than expected. If you want to send a mail directly to the hotel, we hope to be able to give you more details.

We’ll be very happy to welcome you for your next trip to Paris as you promised.

Best Regards

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

I stayed here alone (I am a 19 year old girl) earlier this summer for 2 nights, and felt totally safe and welcomed which was lovely when spending time in Paris, especially amongst the business of summer time Montparnasse. I was visiting a friend who lived nearby and used it as a base for exploring. It's very well connected with the Vavin métro station literally 30 seconds walk away, so I had no trouble getting there from Bercy station even though it was my first time using the métro alone. The staff were friendly and my room was clean, well decorated and airy. I very much enjoyed my stay here.

Dear Katya,

Many thanks for your kind review about your stay at Atelier Saint Germain hotel.

As you mentioned, Montparnasse is a very safe and busy area. Location of the hotel near metro line 4 is excellent to reach the main attractions in Paris like Saint Germain des Prés and the Latin Quarter. Next time you come, try the several public bus lines, you will discover another point of view for the same price than a metro ride.

We’re very happy you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to welcome you again for your next stay.

Best Regards

My family and I spent our last night in Paris in this hotel. The staff is very helpful. The desk clerk who checked us in made sure we were settled, helped us with cab reservations for very early ride back to De Gaulle airport the next day. Though the hotel is on the small side, it is located off the busy St Germain Blvd and very convenient for taking Metro to get around. Quiet, very clean, and excellent wi-fi (free) connection. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Paris.

Room Tip: Any room is acceptable.

Spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel. Great location, great service. Rooms are small but not a problem for the 2 of us as we spent most of our day exploring Paris anyway. The elevator was teeny-weeny but again, not a problem for us. Clean room, clean bedding, free wi-fi. Vavin metro station (line 4) was a few steps away and Montparnasse-Bienvenue metro station (line 6) was a short walk away. Loved the fact that there was a choice of restaurants in the vicinity to which we were able to walk. Will definitely stay here when we return to Paris.

About the area, we agree with you that there is a lot of choice for lunch or diner. Our favorite restaurant has the same name than the hotel and provides a fine French food.

I booked the hotel using hotwire and was slightly concerned but it all ended up well. The hotel is 50m or so from Vavin metro station and 5-10 min from 3 or more metro stations, pretty much in the Latin quartier and close to Luxemburg garden. The room is comfortable, not too spacy but not too small (I have seen much smaller in Paris and around). All clean. Iron available at the desk. Some people from the staff are very friendly and helpful but one guy was less inclined to assist. Be aware that there is no computer to use but if you need something to print, you can send to the registration desk, and they can print for you. The lift is tiny tiny and the two of us, who are average to smaller and 2 suitcases didn't fit in all together.

I loved this tiny, cute hotel – however be careful which room you get! Our room looked over the street but my parents were unlucky and got a room that supposedly looked over the courtyard – in fact there was a wall 2 feet from the window so they essentially had no window. Considering their room was the same price it was really bad value for money (I think it was room 11).
The hotel is in a great location, though be warned it's not actually in St Germain at all (it's in Montparnasse), which is very misleading. I enjoyed staying here – the decor is lovely, the bed is really comfy and the rooms are cosy. However considering the rooms are miniscule I'm not sure the price quite matches the quality.

Room Tip: Make sure you've got a room with a window before you check in

Dear Guest,

Thanks for taking time to write your review. We’re happy to read that you loved Atelier Saint Germain hotel, its decoration, its comfy beds and cosy rooms.

Regarding location, you should have noticed it is a short metro ride away from the area of Saint Germain and only 20minutes walking distance.

Regarding your parents’ room, they paid a different price for the room 11 which is usually cheaper than the other ones as mentioned in a previous review and on our website.
Nevertheless, this room is a quiet one as it facing the courtyard

We hope to welcome you again for your next visit to Paris

This hotel was tiny, but other than that fit most all of my requirements for what I was looking for:
-Great great location! It's actually more of the Montparnasse district than the the name of the hotel would lead you to believe. However, if you are feeling up to shopping or dining in St. Germain, it is a short metro ride away. Not a touristy area, lots of cute little restaurants and cafes. Close to 3 metro lines that will get you to most sights without having to change trains. Direct metro train to Gare du Nord if you're coming in via Eurostar. Neighborhood felt safe.
-CLEAN
-reasonably priced (for us) during peak season
-queen beds available, free wifi, small safe available for us
-friendly staff, helpful, spoke English well
-bonus: cute furnishings and bathroom fixtures

I think the only thing that took away from this being a rating of 5 for me was the size of the hotel room, but I've stayed in smaller places in Paris before and have just come to expect it of this city. Also, I guess we were lucky that it wasn't too hot, but we couldn't figure out how to work the AC for the life of us. We didn't ask the front desk since opening the window fixed this but I could see this being a concern for those traveling in August. Also, you can ask for a lower level room to minimize the climbing of the incredibly narrow staircase (which we did at time of booking), but the tradeoff is that if you want to sleep with the window open you will smell all the cigarette smoke from the smokers hanging outside of the bar downstairs (which wasn't overly rowdy or anything).

Dear Guest,

We thanks very much for staying at Atelier Saint Germain and we’re happy to read it meet quite all your expectations.

Thanks for mentioning all the good reasons to stay with us : location, direct connection with Gare du Nord, cleanliness, friendly staff and bathroom despite the size of the room.

Regarding the problem you coped with, we thank you too as we were not aware of how complicated it could be to switch on the AC. We’ll put some instructions in the room for the next guests in order to help them.

We hope to welcome you again for your next visit to Paris
