“Great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Fantastic hotel right in the middle of everything (yet quiet). We had a balcony room with a view that stretched from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower (not just the top either, pretty much the whole tower). The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel is located a couple of blocks from the Tuilleries Metro stop and there are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially Mohammed and Matteo. We chose to arrange a shuttle through the hotel and feel it was the easiest most hassle free way to go. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

Room Tip: worth it to pay extra for the view.

comfortable spacious room, quiet courtyard (functional not decorative), excellent breakfast in cosy salle a manger, most helpful staff, location, location, location. If you want a pre war Paris feel, this is your place. Next time I might try a city view, or just stick with the quiet of the courtyard. in looking over other reviews I have to say we had a clean quiet comfortable space. charging phone a challenge until discovered 110 plug on hairdryer. Too late to see if it actually functioned. Metro, Hop on Hop off nearby. Bottom line: you get what you pay for and I can't imagine a better value for older Paris ambience. will book here again.

Room Tip: courtyard for quiet, street for view

Had a room with a small balcony overlooking the entire stretch from the Louvre to Eiffel Tower and more - very nice! Room is clean, nice, and NOT small by European standards with more than sufficent space for a comfortable stay. In my 5 day stay there, I only met one conceirge who came across as a standoffish French man - not friendly but not unfriendly - he told me that a taxi to Gard de Nord would be 25 Euros, journey would be 20 mins and I should be at the station one hour before. Turned out he was wrong, taxi only cost 8 euros, under 10 minutes and I arrived at the station way too early on a very cold morning.

As mentioned by others, hotel is very well located, with metro station almost at doorstep. Breakfast is in a small room and seemed to be understaffed. But service was still good and the buffet spread, while not very large, is of high quality - not cheap - but fair price for breakfast in a 4 star hotel in Paris. Room came with free wifi. All in all, highly recommended if room rate fits your budget.

We stayed four nights, and as we have been to Paris before opted not to get a view room. I asked for an upper floor, light and bright room with a tub, and that's exactly what we got.

Our room, #402, was around the corner from the elevator (but not next to it). As you entered there was a little vestibule, which was wonderful and made it very private. Turning to the right was the room. It was quite large, I'd guess about 14' x 15' - which is very spacious for Paris. There was a king size bed, night tables, a small table with chairs, and a desk. We got food on rue Cler one night, and four of us ate at the little table with plates and cutlery supplied by the hotel. There were two closets, which was very nice, and an alcove with shelves below, open above, holding the TV. All of the surfaces and closet space were great, as we could unpack and tuck our suitcases out of the way. Two large windows looked out over the rear courtyard and other buildings, but we were far enough away that we had plenty of privacy (there were also sheer Roman shades to let down, and at night, room-darkening draperies). It was very quiet.

The bathroom had a double vanity, large tub/shower, and a separate room for the toilet. There was also a lovely large window over the tub.

We opted to eat most breakfasts in the hotel, as we prefer a larger buffet, and we thought that it was as good a value as anyplace nearby (unless you just want a pastry and coffee). I do agree with a previous poster that it could become crowded (there were only about 8-9 tables), but we never had to wait. Minor quibble - the scrambled eggs could get dry in the warming tray, but I just got new ones when they brought them out.

The location, as others have said, is wonderful, as the Tuileries Metro is nearly across the street. We found the staff to be very nice (especially enjoyed Jean Luc, who really should have his own show, he's a hoot). When I asked about where we could buy tickets for the Louvre to save waiting in line, one of the staff people (Mohammed or Matteo) sold me some for the same 11E I'd have paid at the museum, and we sailed past the line at the Pyramide entrance the next morning. They also helped by printing our boarding passes - suggest you do this if possible before leaving, because it will save you at least 20 minutes at CDG. Melissandra was also very helpful.

Relatives had room 401, which they liked, but I preferred 402. I have posted a floor map below to show the relative placements of the rooms on the fourth floor (hope that's ok with the hotel).

Room Tip: 302 and 402 are two of the largest rooms facing the courtyard. 301 and 401 have doors next to the la...

Hotel is very nice located, close to Place Vendome and directily opposite to Tulleries. If the room is not at the front to the main road, the hotel is rather quiet. Staff is very dedicated to service and very friendly.
Our room was on the 5th floor "under the roof" - old furniture with typical conditions (doors of the cupboard not to be closed).
Room was nicely furnished, bath room was very clean.
Breakfast room was too small, unfortunately has no daylight nor windows. When frequently visited by guests the room is definitely too small and the staff is slightly overburdened.

I had done extensive research before choosing this hotel because I wanted a hotel which is centrally located, has a view and has enough room/beds for 3 people to sleep comfortably. We booked an executive room overlooking the tuileries garden, and it was absolutely delightful to wake up to the majestic Louvre, the well groomed garden and the iconic Eiffel tower every morning. In terms of transport, tuileries metro is right across the street and the RER station with direct connection to the airport is just a few metro stops away (Les Halles-Chatelet). You can also get a cab quite easily at the doorstep and taxis in Paris are not expensive. The hotel is not cheap (even though it is way cheaper than Le Meurice a few doors down) - I paid around 400 euro a night for the room, and I was disappointed that breakfast is not included in the price. However, there are quite a few cafes and restaurants around the area (incl. Angelina!) and there are also a couple of supermarkets not too far away (about 5 mins walk). Almost every tourist major tourist attraction, including Carrousel de Louvre which opens on Sundays, is within walking distance from the hotel (but bring comfortable shoes!) so the location just cannot be beat. The hotel is located on a busy touristy street, but it was quite amazing that the double doors in the room simply blocked out the street noise completely once they were closed. Moreover, I have to say that the front desk staff are super nice and extremely helpful. They are very friendly and always greet us with a smile.

Now the cons: we have a lovely lovely executive room, but housekeeping left much to be desired. Smudged mirrors with major toothpaste stains and the bathtubs were not cleaned, and I ended up having to do the cleaning myself. In addition, some bathroom amenities can be improved, e.g. the shower head was mouldy and I think the hotel could replace it quite cheaply. Another gripe I have about the room is the toilet, it is in a separate room, which is good, but it always smelled of urine even after it had been cleaned so we always had to keep the door tightly closed. It is not the housekeeping staff's fault, but I suspect that it has to do with the plumbing system of an old bldg.
I really like hotel Brighton despite of a few minor complaints, and would recommend this hotel to those who visit Paris for the first time.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and go for a room with a view of the Tuileries garden, it is well worth it!
