I am thankful Hotel de La Bourdonnais will soon be undergoing a complete renovation. We had two different rooms -- both were a bit tired, but one was much nicer than the other. The double room we had was tiny, even by Parisian standards -- and the shower was full of mold. We were happy to note when the second part of our party arrived, that the second room was cleaner, and had a refrigerator; the first room had no amenities of any kind.
Do NOT count on wireless in this hotel. It was hopeless!
If you stay there, be sure to walk toward the Metro, and visit the area behind the hotel. Avenue de la Bourdonnais can be a bit off-putting if you arrive in the evening. It is fairly deserted after the business day ends. If one is not aware of the busy streets just behind the hotel, it feels like the location is not terribly safe. Once we noted the bustle near the metro, we felt better about journeying out at night.
The location, very close to the metro, was okay, but not really near any tourist sites other than the Eiffel Tower and the Ecole Millitaire.
The staff totally ignored us; I'm stunned that people call them friendly. They were anything but, with the exception of two men whom we saw once each in our week-long stay, and one woman who worked the breakfast bar.
