“Rude staff; dirty rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We arrived at hotel; no lift - had to drag our 60 pound suitcases up a flight of stairs to "office"
Man at desk did not even look at us; was too busy watching TV
NEVER said one word to us as we checked in and THREW room keys at us across counter!!!
Room VERY small, dirty; stepped on a dirty razor under bed as we were getting ready for bed ...
NOISY and hot - no AC
Couldn't get out of there fast enough!!!

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel had lots of character, the furniture was a bit tatty but it didn't bother us. The best part was the French balcony on to the street and the bathroom was also lovely. Having said that the street was very noisy, so families and older people might be better of staying at the courtyard side. There was a nice market spread along the street on the Sunday and the Metro station was 30 seconds away...

Reception staff was varied. For most of our stay Reception was covered by a young man, who spoke English well and was very helpful, however when we arrived and left there was an older woman who spoke hardly any English.

Overall, we had a good time. If we're staying in this area again, we'll definitely come here. The only problems were that there was no plug on the bath tub, we were really looking forward to having a nice bubble bath! And they also charged 5 euros to leave our luggage for a couple of hours after check in before we headed off.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the street side, if you want real character, but not if you have trouble sleeping...

My partner, his son and myself stayed here. We booked 2 double rooms for 3 nights. When we arrived and gave our ref number, which I printed off, we were met with bewildered looks ! Then we were told we had booked 1 room ,we had to argue with the receptionist, then finally we were told that 2 double rooms would be ready by 7pm. At 7 we went back to the hotel only to be told by some young lad at reception that there was a "water leak" in 1 of our double rooms and we would have to sleep in a triple room, Bearing in mind , my partners son is 18 !As I had made the reservation I went to speak to the young lad and he flicked his hand at me and said he would only speak to " the mister " ,he was arrogant and very rude and everytime i went to speak he cut me down. Hateful nights sleep as metro right beside you, the street noise never tops and it was so warm in the room with 3 people that u had to keep window open. sirens went off all night and people shouting and mopeds up and down street all night, there was no air conditioning.Next day we were informed that we would defo have 2 double rooms, but again more lies. my partners son ended up staying in the triple room we all had slept in ,( they took a bed out) and we were 4 floors up from him ? We were advised we would get a refund but when we checked out ,conveniently no one spoke english. we found a lad who translated for us but were advised that it was not possible to get a refund and goodbye. If you from the UK/Ireland like us and do not speak french ,you have no hope in this hotel.

Room Tip: There are NO quiet rooms in this hotel, they all face the very noisy street.

The reviews we had read on this budget hotel we not great but as it was conveniently located for our business trip we decided to book. We were pleasantly surprised to find it
was not only good value but that it was clean and friendly. We will stay again soon.

Well, as a non-smoker I had to stay 2 nights in a smoking room, which was so tiny, that we couldn't wide open the En-Suite's door. OK, fine, we knew, that the rooms are small and there is only a "petit" bathroom, I was quite fine with that. But neither the rooms, nor the canteen was like on the pictures. The shower was dirty from inside, the furnitures were old, and the walls would need an urgent re-paint! the breakfast was so small, we got only a half piece of a short baguette and one slice of sweet bread, one piece of small butter and one piece of jam. plus a cup of tea/coffe and 1dl orange juice... at least something in the stomach...
even that the area is not that bad, there wasn't a nice view from the windows. Our room was facing to a dirty and dark backyard, my friend's room to the narrow street, where the opposite buildings were shading. anyway, I didn't bother the view that much, we were just sleeping there, and the view of the city was compensting for everything!!!
the reception service: from the 3 receptionists only 1 was able to talk in fluent English and he could give us proper directions as well.
A big advantage of the hotel was, that it was pretty close to the metro-station, (lines 2,5 and 7bis). Another advantage was, that we have reserved it for quite small money, so this hotel is fine, if you don't want to spend too many time in your room and you want to plan a low-budget trip to beautiful Paris.
