“NEEDS IMPROVEMENT”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2010

We booked this hotel for our leisure trip to Paris.

The best thing about this hotel is its location, its in heart of the city. The room were not spacious as we were expecting it, the breakfast was good with nice set of helping people is good and the distance to other tourist attractions is not much.

The hotel is located far outside the city center in a pretty bad residential area in North Paris. Service upon arrival was extremely rude. To enter the hotel you have to ring a bell - however the reception is basically never staffed. That means you have to wait 10 to 15 minutes outside and ring constantly every time you wanna enter the hotel - even if you have a room key.

Besides, the rooms are very small, crappy, dirty and let you hear every single word of your neighbour. Wifi does not work properly and interrupts every 5 minutes: Useless!

All in all - definetely not recommended!

It was a good place for the price. Clean and tidy. Actually an small room but it was fine. Close to two metro stations. The only problem was that I left on a Sunday and the girl in the reception only speach french. I had a problem because i want it to pay cash €115 wit a 200 bill and she said that she ca not change it and that I need to do so... on a sunday morning!!!! Aweful. Besides that it was fine.

When we arrived to Arbicotel, I thought this place is a joke, probably would look for another place to stay if not the fact that it was 29th of december and every single descent place in paris was fully booked. But anyway, we ve decided to stay - and it just got worst - walls of the building were so thin, that we could hear our neightbours from 2 floors above us :-) So needlees to say there was no way to have long morning sleep, coz at 9am housekeeping was doing their job :-)

But from the positive side i can mention very friendly staff, willing to help 24/7 and after reading previous comments I can't completly agree with the opinion of bad location. If You know Your way around, You can get to city center in less then 20min by metro.

After all exerience I ve decided to rate it as average hotel, becouse for this kind of money You will get good 'shelter' in paris. It reminds a bit of Hostel just with housekeeping.

If you plan romantic stay in Paris this probably shouln't book this place, its perfect for wild stag parties, for groups of Young pub crawlers etc.

Just got back from a one-night stay at the Abricotel in Paris. If you are fond of hotels miles away from the city centre, strangely painted dingy rooms and en-suites with mould on the ceiling, then this is the place for you. My colleague's mattress had blood on it, and inexplicably, the corridors had vacuums in the middle of them. Seemed to be one per floor. I wasn't sure if they expected us to do the vacuuming or what.
The only good thing was the breakfast was not completely awful (stick with the hot chocolate) and the front desk staff seemed cheerful. The lift was very spacious for Paris too. The TVs were new but had poor reception and only French stations.
The hotel price is also quite cheap, and the restaurant around the corner (not the drug den cafe on the immediate corner) was very good.
I for one decided that a two-night stay was too much for me and checked out early. The front desk man cheerfully waved me out.

  • Liked — leaving it
  • Disliked — mouldy ceilings, terrible paint job, general grime

We never paid very much for our hotel ... we only really needed a place to sleep because we knew we would be out around paris sight seeing for most of our trip.
we were expecting a grubby little place because it was so cheap but we were totally wrong the abricotel was really good value for money it was clean and tidy, and the beds were comfy. Our room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels ect... everyday.
The hotel was away from the noisey busy roads so when we were exhausted from the busy city we got a great peaceful nights sleep. The staff never spoke alot of english but they did make us feel very welcome.
We definetly got our money's worth.
If we go to paris again we would stay at this hotel again.

  • Liked — value for money. Away from the busy drag. peace and quite.
  • Disliked — view wasnt very good the back of an office block

I spent 3 days at the Abricotel, and it was completely satisfying.
The room I was in was surprisingly large compared to other French hotels.

The room was clean, there was a TV, a big bathroom, and they gave free shampoo, shower gel, soap, and even a shoe polisher(!) every day.
Breakfast was not included in the room price however.
The staff was professional.

The only downside was that the subway/metro was about 5-10min away, and the hotel is located near a busy road. However, 3 supermarkets were closeby.

Overall I would recommend this hotel to just about anybody!
