“Warm touch, great staff, W Style - a breath of fresh air in Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

I will start by saying that I am used to W standards and to the 'Whatever Whenever' concept of service and everything that comes with it, but the staff at the W Opera are definitely in a different league. Their personal touch and passion for service excellence makes you forget that this is a big, corporate hotel chain deep at heart, and truly made a difference in our stay, they made our Paris trip (having been to Paris myself many times before) memorable. The hotel is on the small-ish side and the rooms could feel slightly cramped to some (particularly US tourists), but this is Paris and real estate is hard to come by. Location is excellent and the funky, stylish modern design is spot on and of course a W trademark. We did not sample the nightlife side of it (they have a nice bar) or the restaurant itself, but this hotel deserves to do very well, a true jewel in the W crown.

Room Tip: Go for higher floors, to help minimise any traffic noise.

We've stayed at W Hotels all over the world, some that have made it and become best in class (like W Barcelona and W Hollywood) others that are making a name for themselves like (W Singapore and W Bangkok) and some that have departed like W Sydney (changed name/management).

This intimate property, maybe 100 rooms total, provides the best of boutique hotel with the fun and funky decor you've come to expect from the brand. We had a Marvellous Suite upgrade but even so don't expect large rooms - this is Paris after all...

The staff are friendly and professional, the accomodations are well-appointed. Unfortunately no Spa and the exercise room is small. This might be made up for the W Lounge/restaurant area which is super-cool and you have option of inside/outside.

Think Flatiron building where the building is the W Hotel and the Apple Store Opera. Not bad if you really need free wifi.

In any event, I think it is worth the mid-priced rooms in the 400 Euro Range. As you know you can get much less for more in the City of Lights.

As a Starwood Platinum member, good amenities/benefits (including breakfast) and this is better location and value than Westin Opera (unless you need to be right next to Louvre) and half the price of the newly renovated Prince De Galles (in the George V area).

Room Tip: Try to get upgrade/purchase of the Marvellous or Wow Suites...

Just returned from 5 nights at this boutique hotel. I've stayed at W Hotels all over the world and this was my favorite (a close second is Hong Kong). This is a small W with only 91 rooms which, along with the service, were superb. We stayed in the Wow Suite which had a nice layout on the 5th floor and a very modern and comfortable bathroom. The bathroom even had 2 sinks which is rare for hotel bathrooms. The best part of the hotel was its location and the service. The hotel is located across the street from the Opera House, a few steps from the Opera Metro stop and walking distance to so many of the amazing sites, neighborhoods, and restaurants in Paris. The concierge staff was the best I ever experienced. Prior to the trip we emailed back and forth for information and I always received thorough information within a couple of hours. During our stay, they provided us with great information on restaurants, nightlife, museums and more. They even texted us while were out in the city to update us on some information we needed. Aside from the concierge staff every other person we encountered (front desk, bar, restaurant) was friendly, attentive and just made us feel great. Can't say enough good things about this property and would definitely return here on our next visit.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to the Wow Suite which had a sofa and desk as well as a king size bed. Room had a...

The smallest W in the company but with a great Paris location near the Opera metro station. The staff really seems to have come together after being open a year. Several times the W Insider, Cecile Rummler, really helped us out and made us feel VERY special.

Bed and shower - amazing. The A/C even worked well for a Paris hotel! I was a bit concerned about the outside sound level but never could hear a peep.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the Opera are highly recommended.

Be sure to stay here at the W Paris if you are looking for a boutique style hotel with excellent 'home away from home' service!

From the bellstaff that spots you on the opposite side of the street while you arrive in your taxi and assists you directly with your bags, to the check in experience where you get offered a cooling beverage right away- it is all perfect! Also a good plus: the airconditioning is working perfectly so even with the heatwave in Paris the hotel and our room had a wonderfully cool temperature.

My tip: order the Eggs Benedict from the Room Service menu - best I ever had!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Suite, with view of the Opera if you can - amazing!

It's my second stay at the W Hotel - Paris Opera. The warm hospitality & welcoming services from airport pick up till the moment I checked out have never failed me. The friendliest hotel that I've came across in Europe and the best in Paris, of course. The room (suite, this time) is comfortably layout, bed is deliberately designed, and the food is great! You got to love the minibar offerings too! The view of the Opera House from the room is magnificent. My choice of accommodation for all future visits to Paris.

The Location.. The Room.. The Service.. and The Staff..
- ALL exceeded our expectation!!

We decided to write a quick review of this 'W'onderful hotel after we spent 3 nights last week as part of the last leg of our European adventure. Yes, we do make an effort to write reviews when something exceeds your expectation or the other way around, but in this case, it's good :)

Before our trip, I spent many days reading reviews and searching for the best hotel for each city and the most difficult one was Paris as there were many hotels to choose from and they all have their own pro and cons, but I wanted a simple modern/luxury hotel with a convenient location and best value for money for my wife and I to wind down and relax before we fly back home. And based on our recent experience, we were extremely pleased with our choice. So hopefully this review will assist others in choosing the right hotel for their Paris trip.

THE LOCATION
Superb location in the Opera area, right next to the Garnier Opera house and very close to the Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps shopping centres and heaps of boutique stores (hide your wallet fellas!). The hotel is also surrounded by many nice cafes, restaurants and markets. Attractions nearby include the Opera house, Le Louvre museum, La Madeleine church etc.

Note: We chose not to stay near the Champs-Élysées or Eiffel Tower simply because we knew we would visit these two areas a few times as part of our European tour, and prefer to stay elsewhere to check out other things ourselves.

Tip: As the hotel is fairly new (less than 2 years old I think), some taxi drivers might not know this W hotel, so just in case, take a screen shot of the hotel location and save it on your phone, then show it to the driver, and let them know the exact address for their gps as well. Taxi fare is approx. 40-50 Euros to/from CDG airport, depends on traffic.

THE ROOM
We were expecting for a cosy simple room as mentioned in some of the reviews here, which we would be more than happy to stay in, but we were quite fortunate to get an upgrade to the Fabulous Suite! And the suite was fabulous indeed and very spacey for European standard with high ceilings. It even had a chandelier (Ooh la la!) and a nice view of the Opera house as well. Room deco was unique in a Parisian style, whereas the bathroom deco was simple and modern. Check out the room photos on their website - what you see is exactly what you get!

THE SERVICE
As we were walking in to the hotel, the porter guys outside greeted us and grabbed our bags in straight away. We were then offered a glass of water or orange juice whilst processing the check-in paperwork. Unfortunately, our room was not ready yet, but this was expected as it was only 1pm, so we decided to walk around and have lunch nearby. We came back after 3pm and again we were greeted by all staff professionally and offered a nice cold drink while getting our room keys ready. Two minutes after we walked in to the suite, the manager knocked on our door to welcome us and gave us a sweet gift for our anniversary! Then the porter came in with our bags and showed us everything that we needed to know about the room. The room with 2 complimentary bottles of water per day as well. Yes, fantastic service overall!

THE STAFF
This is where W hotel excels the most in comparison to other 5 star hotels. The staff were extremely nice, friendly and helpful, and they always greet you with a sincere and genuine smile (even in a hot and humid day). All staff also speak english fluently and they always happy to answer any questions! We really can't speak highly enough of these marvellous staff and we highly commend the W Hotel management for going above and beyond to train their staff very well to ensure happy guests at all times.

A special mention to Ines, Ina and Louis (sorry for any mis-spell guys) and the manager(s) in charge - 'Merci beaucoup!
