My husband and I spent four nights at this hotel in September 2006. I booked the hotel for 101 euro/night including breakfast through the Hotel Reservation Service (HRS) website. This was a great rate considering our visit was scheduled during the Paris trade show season.

The hotel is easy to locate if you are arriving via the RER B from the airport. You will exit at Chatelet Les Halles taking the stairs up many flights. Upon exiting the station you will walk past Saint Eustache church toward the Rue de Louvre. Cross the street and make your way to the Place des Victoires where you will be only one block away from the hotel at 3 Rue de la Banque. With luggage, it's a 15 minute walk from the station to the hotel.

Check-in at the hotel was smooth. The clerks at the front desk spoke English. They did not take a credit card imprint or ask for our passports (unlike previous trips to France). They said breakfast was not included in our rate so I showed them the confirmation of our room rate and they apologized for the mistake.

We were located on the third floor (US system) or the second floor (European system) in room 205. The elevator to the room held two people and one suitcase comfortably. We've experienced smaller elevators in Europe.

The room, however, was very, very, small. Although not the smallest room we've stayed in (Cherry Court Hotel, London) it was barely big enough for the two of us to move around comfortably. We looked at the map of the rooms on the back of the door and if it was drawn remotely close to scale, we were in the smallest room. Also, peeking at other rooms as the maid cleaned confirmed that other rooms were a little larger than ours. Just a note if they put you in room 205. We did not change rooms as it wasn't that important to us.

The bathroom, too, was tiny. My husband described the shower stall as "cozy." Also, to illustrate how small the bathroom was, sitting on the toilet, your knees will touch the opposite wall. It's funny if you have a good sense of humor!

I found the bed hard (matter of preference) and small for two people as it was a full size bed rather than two twins pushed together. The room has individually controlled air conditioning which was great and the room and bathroom were cleaned well.

As previous posters have mentioned, noise is a factor at this hotel. The walls are thin enough to hear the television from the next room over (if your neighbor is in) and the bedroom doors tend to slam on their own if you don't hold on to them to gently close them. Our floor was occupied by a loud group of ladies and we could here their early morning/late night comings and goings as they discussed their daily plans in the hallway.

The breakfast room is on the ground floor. It is a self-service buffet with coffee, juice, tea, milk, breads, ham, cheese, fruit cocktail, pineapple slices, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs. A good start to the day if it is included in your rate, however, it may not be worth the price at 10 euro/person. The breakfast room staff work hard to keep the tables cleared and the food and drink stocked.

The location of the hotel is quite ideal. It is on a quiet street that hosts a market on Saturdays and Sundays. The market is more like a giant yard sale but it is still very neat. The hotel is within walking distance to the Louvre, Pompidou, and Notre Dame. Several metro stations are nearby as well as many places to grab a bite to eat or buy groceries.

  • Liked — Location & breakfast included with room rate
  • Disliked — noise level and small room
  • Tips/Secrets: — Ask for a room that faces the street-those appeared larger and there is little street noise

We stayed here for 12 nights at the end of May, and we will definitely go back. The hotel is clean, quiet, and comfortable if a little small, and the location is wonderful. The Louvre is less than 10 minutes stroll away, and you can get there through the gardens of the Palais Royal. The hotel is in a working neighborhood (the financial district) and not really touristy, although it has things that are worth seeing, like the shopping galleries (Gallery Vivienne is a few doors away) and the Place de la Victoire.
Our room was small, with a tiny, awkward shower, but our bed was king-sized and very comfortable, and our sheets and towels were changed daily. We didn't bother with the breakfast buffet (10 euros) but ate at Au Panetier, and sweet little art nouveau bakery a short block away.

long message but worth reading...
My friends and I arrived at the hotel mid-day, total of 5. We therefore required a double and a triple room. We all proceeded to check out our rooms and were quite happy after viewing the first one, however upon entering the second room - our stay went downhill. As soon as we opened the door a stench wafted throughout the corridor.
Someone obviously had been sick in the room that morning (or night previous) as the smell was so strong to the point of making everyone else feel ill,. The floor was still wet in the area, the bed cover was missing and the bedskirt had questionable stains. We proceeded to the front desk to ask for an alternate room and were told that the hotel was full. We asked if we could be moved to either another Timhotel or to a property in the area (being in the travel industry - I figured this would be the easiest thing to do) However, we were advised that that was impossible as it was a long weekend in Paris - and he would try to move us to another room the next day or so. We were then provided with a bottle of air freshener and told to leave the door/window open. Neither helped the situation and the smell only got stronger. First thing next morning we asked for another room - same story - full, and we were then handed a bottle of vinegar to clean the carpet ourselves !
Finally the third night we were given a new room - expecting some sort of discount for the first two nights.
Checking out turned into an ordeal, the manager and front desk agent decided that they would only give a 40 Euro discount off the rate, stating it was for the breakfast buffet.(which we only ate at once because it wasn't until the second day that we realized it was 10Euro per person) There's a great patisserie down the street for a far better breakfast at half the price. After confronting the situation, the manager asked why we didn't ask to be moved to another hotel which we did - and told him we were advised the city was full - he didn't believe us and stood his ground. To avoid further conflict we just settled the bill.

The hotel alone would have been fine - rooms are small , location is great but don't expect
service from anyone at the hotel, from the cleaning staff all the way to management -
It's too bad that the attituded of the hotel was so un-caring, it put a damper on a good portion of the trip.

I booked a Eurostar package (train plus this hotel for one night - going over for Springsteen gig at the Bercy!). As the deal was quite cheap I wasn't expecting much from the hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. Set in a very central location, less than 5 minutes walk from the Bourse metro, this hotel was ideal for me and my friends to get back to after the gig. The room was clean, bathroom on the small side, the shower in particular was a tight squeeze for my larger travelling companion. It was certainly a great place for a short stay though possibly longer and you might begin to notice the cramped spaces.

24 hour reception meant that my friends and I could go out and enjoy the early hours of Paris and still get back into the hotel at 5am when we returned.

i'll definitely be staying here again.

I have stayed at TimHotel Palais Royal Louvre during my 3 day visit in Dec 2006. It was the first time in my life I stay in a 2 star hotel and frankly I was anxious! The hotel is located in a quite and clean street near Paris Stock Exchange and 5 minutes from metro "La bourse" station. It was not that easy to find it as it blends really well with the rest of the building. When I first entered It was a nice surprise as my expectations where quite low. Some african guy at the reception was half asleep and was eating something. Not that proffessional. However he was nice and helpful. The hotel has been renovated recently so the entrance is really cute and so is the see through elevator (great to claustrophobic guys like me). The rooms are very clean and the bathroom spotless! Note that this is the smallest room I have ever slept into my whole life. No problem though as you get used to it very quckly. Mind you don't get large bagage when if you decide to go to this hotel as it will seriously take a lot of space. As for the shower I had to swallow my tummy to get into it (seriously!) ok I am 10Kilos overweitght but nothing very significant! The hotel is exactly 8 minutes walking distance to the louvre. I suggest you go visit the louvre and continue walking stratight ahead through the garden de tuileries until you reach the Arch de Triomph. This walk will make your day in the most beautiful city in the world!!!
