Do you know, when I read some of these reviews I am convinced we have stayed at different hotels. 132 from Germany certainly had a bad experience but I would suggest that this is very rare. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful and obliging. We arrived after 11pm and they even cooked steak & chips for us (it was the best Tbone we've ever had). And one reviewer said it wasn't central to anything? Where on earth was he? It is less than 5 minutes from the amazing LaFayette with its wonderfully decorated Christmas windows; 7 minutes from the famous Paris Opera House; 2 minutes to the metro and 3 minutes to the very interesting Grand Magasins. Even the Sacre Coeur/Montmarte and Eiffel Tower are walkable and taxis stop right outside so what more could you want. The hop-on-hop-off bus tour is near the Opera House so only a 10 minute walk (and I walk slowly!)
Our room had a huge double bed and the TV and aircon didn't appear to work but these were fixed as soon as we mentioned them. The bathroom was clean and large although the lack of a bidet was a bit strange for France. Could have done with a mat for the floor as the tiles were cold but it was December! The cleaner refilled the tea & coffee, etc. every day and Reception gave us more milk when we asked for it. The breakfast was amazing! Loads of choice and the scrambled egg was the best I've ever tasted. Although on the last day they cleared all the food away on the dot of 10.30 which didn't go down very well. They were obviously in a hurry to go off shopping or something!
True.... the paintwork could do with being touched up but this is a hotel! If the paintwork were to be kept immaculate they would be doing nothing but running round with a paintbrush all day then reviewers would complain that it smelt of paint! The stair carpet was threadbare in one place so does need replacing but if you only ever use the character lift you'd never notice this.
And as for the person who reckoned he'd had money stolen!!!! Well..... words fail me!
All in all it was a wonderful experience and a wonderful weekend. Thank you Millennium Hotel Paris Opera!!!!
