We got a room with no air conditioning so I asked for a change. The front desk told me the next day there would be one available but not tonight. So I couldn't sleep the whole night because it was so hot and opening the windows mean listening to all the cars on the street. It was very noisy. Next day, the front desk claims the hotel has no AC in any of its rooms, until we pressed on further saying someone said there is a room available with AC. THEN, he runs to the back, talks to someone, and comes out and said AC rooms are only on the 1st floor and makes the change for us. In the end, the AC is not strong, we still had to open the windows. The shower door is broken. The bed was broken. There was no hot water for the night and the next morning. The front desk never told me the breakfast is not included so I had to pay 12 Euros per person per breakfast. I stayed in Italy with 2 hotels and both included the breakfast. Front desk seemed pretty rude. The only good thing I can think of is it's next to a metro station and the beds were good enough to sleep on.

I booked this hotel for one night as I was travelling into and out of Gare du Nord, which is about 15 mins walk away. The area is absolutely horrible, and even as a tall 30 year old male, feels very threatening at night.

The hotel is just off a main street and opposite a metro station, so you can at least get to somewhere less slum-like relatively quickly.

My single room was obtained cheaply over the internet, but I was still taken aback when I opened the door to the small musty cupbosrd they had provided me. Amazingly they had crammed in an old bed and miniture bathroom but failed to think about the poor soul who had to manouver around it. It really was tiny. Step on the bed to get to door tiny.

I can take a small room for a low price but not the dirt and broken furniture and worst of all the heat. This was July but had no air con, not even a fan and because the window opened onto a platform that could be reached from the street, I had to keep that closed. Oh and because of the huge noise levels too.

I never felt my valubles were safe here and reception was hardly ever manned, allowing locals to easily wander in unchallenged. Breakfast was also incredibly poor. However cheap the room, i think it will always be overpriced - avoid.

My father and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel.I have to say we were disappointed. The 3 star rating it has been given would seem to be very flattering. My room was badly in need of re-painting(dirty marks on walls everywhere),there was very little storage space for your clothes and every time I took a shower my bathroom floor flooded( I pitied the people in the room below).Air-conditioned rooms were said to be available on request so I e-mailed the hotel only to be told they did not exist - not fun in 34 degree heat!

The sumptuous breakfast mentioned on various websites advertising this hotel was very overrated. It was in fact just about adequate with very little choice and the only milk I could find for cereal was warm-yuk.

It is also worth mentioning that the area in which this hotel is situated is not the best place to be around after dark.On every street corner there were any number of vagrants lying on the pavement and had I not been with my dad I would definitely have had to incur the added expense of using taxis rather than walk.Lone female travellers beware.

All in all this is a pretty basic hotel so if you are going to stay there make sure you dont pay a lot for it because if you do you will not see good value for your money !!!

So who stays close to the Place de la Republique? People like us who, at the last moment, were told the apartment we had rented was "unavailable." (A story for another day.)

We took these rooms because they were available, something that seemed good when we had no place to stay. Much to our surprize, they were delightful. Small hotel, tiny elevator, friendly staff, great breakfast, three stars - all this for the internet rate of 90 euro a night per room! The rooms had recently been redecorated in kind of a fun, funky decor. The girls' room had a balcony that overlooked the rooftops of Paris.

No air conditioning on a very hot night, but we were able to sleep.

Very close to the #5 line on the metro, easily accessible to the Gare du Nord and the Gare de l'Est, Louvre, Galleries Lafayette, etc.

I booked online a single room in this hotel and would not recommend it. The room was situated on the ground-floor, 5m away from the reception. During the first night I was woken every hour by the front door bell I could hear (person behind reception desk locked the hotel door for security reasons I assume, so you had to ring before getting in). Early in the morning there was a lot of noise (chatting, laughing ...) from the breakfast room, so no change to sleep until 10 ! The rooms are very small, you could hardly move. The bathroom was clean but there was some unpleasant smell (as form a sewer?). Maybe I got a less pleasant room because of online booking with reduced price (75 euro/night) ? At check-out Visa didn't work, I had to get cash from a terminal.
I would not recommend this hotel, especially not if you don't sleep like a rock.
