“Right in the heart of Paris”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

The hotel is ideally located in the 1st arrondissement, a short walk to many of the main sights and Tuileries Metro station. The gardens almost opposite are particularly nice.

I was in room 2 on the ground floor which, unlike rooms other reviewers have stayed in, was very big, the bathroom was huge, however, there was quite a bit of noise some of which seemed to come from the store cupboard backing on the bathroom. This started at around 4.30am.

Unlike other reviews, I found the wi-fi connection to be fine, reasonably fast and free (English hotels take note!)
Nice fluffy towel robe and slippers were provided in the room along with decent toiletries and a cute water squiring frog(!)

The breakfast was good, lots of choice and very good quality. It was nice to see the temperatures refrigerated serving areas being monitored.
There is also free tea and coffee in the bar/lobby area during the day

Staff are pleasant and helpful and spoke good English.

All in all a nice, clean, well priced hotel - just weigh up room size over noise.

Room Tip: It seems you have to weigh up room size over noise. Ground floor rooms are large but quite noisy

We stayed as a small group, upon recommendation, because one of us stayed here about a year ago.

Excellent location. Quite street next to the Rivoli, le Jardin de Tuileries is just two minutes walk and so does the metro station of line M1 with the same name. La place Vendome is nearby too.

The reception area and the breakfast hall are very good, excellent breakfast buffet for 17 Euros per person. The staff was friendly and helpful.

And now the opposite side.
The rooms are very small and you can hear all the noises in the neighboring rooms as if you are there. The climate system is old and produces hell of a smell. The pillow covers are synthetic and your hair gets wet in the morning. The bath is separated from the other part of the bathroom by a kind of a glass door-it doesn't prevent water from falling on the floor but makes climbing inside a challenge. No slippers or bathrobe provided.

There are two elevators, both very small, and most likely you will have to miss one of there are two persons inside.

Cleaning starts immediately after breakfast, but if you return to the hotel at daytime you can easily find your room still not done. That is a surprisingly poor level of everyday service for the 4 star hotel which is quite pricey. There are similarly priced places in premier arrondissement with a much higher level of service.

My final judgement based on a 5-day stay with two rooms taken (single and double) is NO. I cannot recommend the place to stay in Paris.

We arrived at this hotel courtesy of our travel agent and despite an early disappointment due to the size of the room (small) the hotel was well located and comfortable. The staff relocated us to a larger room which was great as was our stay. An Irish Pub right next door was a boon and very popular with Aussies, Kiwis and Rugby fans! The ice cold Guinness and Kilkenny ales on tap were a real treat as well.

Room Tip: Take a walk up to your room before booking in as they tend to be a little small. We asked to be shif...

The hotel is ideally situated.(Close to Place Vendome but also to the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens).Nearby, there are a lot of boutiques and you have a chance to do some windowshopping but also shopping if you can afford it.(unfortunately I couldn't but still it was nice)
The hotel is cosy. When I saw it I thought it would better match a 3 star hotel rather than a 4 star hotel, due to the size ot its lobby and reception.
Location was great.Safe place with 2 metro stations nearby and on walking distance for a lot of places in Paris. Breakfast was also superb.Great variety of plates with high quality of food. You were also given the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the lobby for free until 5p.m. All the other hotels in the specific area were far more expensive.
We booked a double comfort room.We were given a room on ground floor with two beds united instead of a double one. The bathroom had no ventilator. Also, it must have been at the base of the hotel bathroom waste outlet for entire hotel resulting in noise. The wi-fi in the room was inexistent. You had signal but browser did not open.We stayed 5 days, not a single day did we have internet in the room. We went to the lobby to use the wifi. We complained to the reception but unfortunately the problem was not solved.Last but not least, extra services are quite overpriced. For example booking a taxi for CDG airport is priced at 98 euros by the hotel while if you get it on your own it is around 55 euros.
Overall I would recommend it and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: There are standard, comfort and superior rooms.Standard are a little smaller than comfort (must be 1...

On the positive side location of the hotel for this stay was excellent - close to the Louvre. Customer service excellent and very helpful - there were two issues brought to their attention and they were dealt with promptly. On the last morning we were leaving early and would not be able to have breakfast, although we did not ask for it we were offered a light breakfast while we waited for our transfer. We found the quality of the breakfast food excellent also. While I note a lot of other guests have referred to the size of the rooms in this hotel I found the room size to be on the generous side compared to other hotels I have stayed in this city.
On the negative while we had requested a quiet room and did get one away from the street which did not have traffic noise however the location of the room appeared to be at the base of the hotel bathroom waste outlet for entire hotel resulting in repeated noise as residents above used their facilities. Poor sleep quality did unfortunately result. Perhaps this is an issue that management might address.

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comment about your recent stay with us.
Our hot buffet breakfast is as you wrote served in the basement area until 10:00 am in our authentic vaulted room. A continental breakfast can also be delivered to your room until 12:00 (noon). But in case of early departure for tout or the airport we also can provide you a “breakfast bag” to take away. Do not hesitate to mention it at the front desk.
You stayed in one of you Comfort room that is probably the reason why you found the room size to be on the generous side. Our Comfort and Deluxe rooms offer more space than our standard or single rooms.
We do appreciate your kind compliments regarding the politeness and kindness of our staff. Please be assured that you message has been forwarded to them right away.
We look forward to welcoming you again on your next trip to Paris.

Best regards,
Ida C.

This place is located in a very convenient area. Close to the subway, the Louvre, Angelina, the garden of Tulieries, the great café Angelina, etc. You can easily get to anywhere in the city from here.
The hotel itself is small but cozy, and safe. Personnel there is very nice. The area for breakfast is really nice, and the breakfast itself delicious. The rooms are quite small as well, but maybe my choice wasn't the correct one and it actually doesn't matter if you, like me, want to explore the city all day.
If I'm back to Paris, I hope so, I would definitely go back to Duminy Vendome and maybe ask for a bigger room, only because of the bathroom size. Price is good regarding the advantage you have when it comes to location.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your comment about your recent stay with us.
As you mentioned one of the many benefits to staying at the hotel Duminy is its great location, which is very convenient to see the highlights of the city.
We are glad you enjoyed our breakfast.
Indeed we have different type and room size. Our Standard room may appear small to some of our guests so we will keep advising to reserve Comfort our Deluxe rooms if you are seeking for more space.
We look forward to welcoming you on your next trip to Paris.
Best regards,

The hotel is conveniently located and at a reasonable price for individual rooms. The personnel is friendly and attentive. The breakfast service and selection is excellent and can be taken in a beautifully refurbished cave. The negative aspect was a poor internet signal with too many blackouts. The sound insulation in the rooms could also be improved.

Dear Sirs,
We are grateful you took the time to share your experience at the Duminy-Vendome on TripAdvisor.
Thank you for rewarding the staff, the breakfast and the location. Once again, our hotel is ideally located at the center of the city near from monuments, museums, restaurants and boutiques.
We have just changed our Internet signal at the hotel which is now high power, I guess the Wifi would work better now.
We also are sorry if you have been disturbed by the noise of the other rooms. If you are booking with us next time, do not hesitate to ask for a quiet room.

We hope to see you again and remain at your disposal for your future reservations.
Best regards,
Lucie D.
