My partner and I had a one night stay over the weekend - actually, because of flight delays and an inept taxi driver, it was about a 10 hour stay! - and the thing that stands out for me is that this hotel is perfectly, and I mean perfectly located to enjoy the delights of the 5th Arrondisement.

If you are taking a taxi from the airport, though, make sure your driver understands that the hotel is in Rue de L'HOTEL Colbert, not the similarly named Rue Colbert - you'll end up down a back alley in the 2eme Arrondisement otherwise!

The hotel itself is clean and well appointed although the room - on the 5th floor, to which there is no lift - was a wee bit on the cosy side. I wouldn't have been too happy staying in it for more than a couple of nights.

Can't comment on the food in the hotel; we didn't eat there at all. But there is a plethora of eateries within yards of the front door, so you'll have plenty to choose from.

Staff were uniformly friendly, welcoming and helpful, both in person and over the phone when I had contacted the hotel prior to arrival.

And the location is absolutely perfect for Notre Dame and the Quartier Latin. If you don't fancy the queues at Notre Dame, take the (probably even shorter!) walk to l'eglise Saint Severin - a wonderful piece of architecture, redolent with history and almost devoid of touring hordes!

Would I go back to the hotel? Absolutement!

Room Tip: If you have any mobility challenges, avoid rooms on the 5th floor. Although they do give you a good...

We stayed 10 days at the Melia Colbert, on the Left Bank, in the hip, happening and historic 5th.
Location is great, between two metro stations, on a tiny, quiet street a block in from the Seine - another block to Notre Dame. Staff was simply wonderful - Front Desk Managers Jesus and Antonio took good care of us, as did everyone employed by this Spanish chain (they cater to an International clientele, which increased our enjoyment - Americans, Canadians, Japanese, Spaniards, Italians and French visiting from other cities.). This is a true boutique hotel, rooms are small but comfortable and updated. Be sure to opt for the included breakfast - it is truly bountiful, with so many choices we put together different breakfasts from the buffet every day of our stay. Wonderful pastries, breads, croissants, fresh fruit, French cheeses, ham, salami, and delicious, fluffy, fresh scrambled eggs that U.S. hotels need to learn how to make! Quiche, occasional omelettes, bacon, sausage, cereals, yogurt - the list goes on. It's also worth upgrading to a "premium room" which ensures an updated bathroom and robes. All staff recommendations were great, from restaurants to tours to shopping. Great, central location - you can walk to fabulous restaurants, Le Comptoir 5 eme, La Bouteille d'Or, Allard, Balzar to name a few. Each evening when we returned the staff asked about our day, did we enjoy the restaurant, etc. We felt like we were coming home! Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view toward the front of the hotel, or a view of Notre Dame.

Stayed with my daughter. Reception service was charming and volunteered lots of help for those not familiar with the city. Room was just what you want/expect for a city centre hotel. High ceilings give an airy feel. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety. The hotel is perfectly situated for the Notre Dame, being only 50m from the south bank of the river in a quiet side road. Lots of very good eating choices nearby.

Stayed here for 4 nights end of July. I brought my 16 year old granddaughter for her first visit to Paris. The hotel was great. Our room and bath were a good size for Paris. AC was
okay, it wasn't too hot, she loved that you could open the windows and look out onto the street. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was unbelievable, there was so much food. It is a pretty hotel and you are literally steps away from Notre Dame and the I'lle St. Louis. My granddaughter said she loved the hotel and hopes to return, me too!

Just returned from a 3 night stay in this gorgeous hotel. We stayed in the grande suite with our two children. On arrival and throughout our stay we found all of the hotel staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful, taking time to explain the hotel's facilities and its locale, including address cards for the children (should they get lost). The location of this hotel is amazing and from our window we could see the top of the Notre Dame. The suite was lovely, the sofa was made into a bed where our children slept. The bathroom was spotlessly clean with fresh towels and plenty of shower gel, soaps should you need any. There were tea/coffee making facilities in both rooms aswell as two tv's. The master bed was very comfortable and after exploring Paris all day, it was a pleasure to return here to rest our weary legs! The staff were incredibly helpful even when we asked for room service at 10 o'clock in the evening. Breakfast is served from 7 till 10 in the week and until 11 at the weekend! Plenty of choice for breakfast, cereal, bread, fruit, yoghurt or even cooked! Its a 5 five minute walk from the nearest RER station where you can get a direct train to the airport. We hope to return to Paris one day and will definitely be using this hotel again! Finally, we enjoyed two good quality (and reasonably priced) meals at Les Gourmands de Notre Dame which was a short walk from the hotel (1 Rue des Grands Degres 75005 Paris).

We got a special rate (€191-per night) because august is low season in Paris. At that price the hotel was very good value but the prices quoted e.g. for sept next are €300 per night. At that price it is not good value. We had a standard room which was large enough for two of us. The mattress was very very firm and it interfered with my sleep. The bathroom is really nice with tiled floors and walls although the taps have lost some of their gold coating. The toilet is separate-again a good feature. Location is good because you are very near the Seine and Notre Dame but a good walk from St Germain boutiques. The carpet on the stairs was threadbare in places. The glass in a picture in the foyer was cracked. Ok yes picky I know but why dont they fix it and put a new carpet on the stairs? Breakfast costs €25 which is expensive and of course you can go have a breakfast around the corner for less. But we did have the breakfast and it is terrific with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit juices, breads incl. croissants and as much tea or coffee as you want. So breakfast was expensive but a treat. The ambience overall is really good. So overall I would return if the price was around €180 but not if it was more.
