The hotel is clean and the staff were friendly and spoke English well. The rooms are small though with small beds and tiny pillows. However if it's a base you are looking for the hotel is handy for the metro and the Gare du Nord. There are some roadworks taking place in the area, so there is some noise and some dodgy pavements. It also meant a Eur17 taxi ride to Gare Du Nord because of the congestion - this of course isn't the hotels fault, but you might want to bear it in mind.

This hotel is a great choice is you are looking for a place to stay in Paris for a few days without paying crazy money, be a walking distance away from Gare Du Nord for travelling, Galerie Lafayette for shopping, Monmartre and Louvre for a bit of culture then that's the right choice.
Our room was nice, light, with a huge window and we left it open every night and could smell freshly baked bread coming from outside every morning! And then you can see the sunlight gently touching the roofs and walls of the biulding opposite and people there have these flowers and plants outside... It's fantastic!

The room was comfortable, all the usual stuff like nice bathroom/shower, TV, bar, tv, hairdryer.
People are very sweet and friendly and always happy to help.

Something else to remember: corner backery is VERY good (try all the chocolate things you can get and bread is also very very nice) and the lady is a sweetheart - doesn't speak much English but it's amazing how much you can achieve using a few words of French and an old style system of sign language. :) (Shame on us - we don't speak much French yet... :( )

There's also a nice french restaurant next door and a shoe shop and a florist. There's also a small corner shop where you can get fruit, water (am a big water drinker) and the guy speaks English.

If you want to find a nice place to eat, you just need to walk for about 5 minutes to get to one of the main roads and you get all the cafes, restaurants and shops - anything.

Things we didn't like about the hotel: pillows are a bit on a small side. The bar next door is open till 2AM and you can hear people shouting from time to time, so a bit of that extra noise at night... But if the window is shut then it's not a problem at all, it blocks all the noise.

To finish my endless note - I love love love Paris and did enjoy our little break and the hotel and hope you will, too!

Having only just read the previous review (after coming back from a 3 night stay in the hotel) in general I must say that yes the rooms are on the small side, but, we did find the staff there helpful and the rooms looked as if they had had a refurbishment recently.

with regards to the breakfast I cannot comment on the breakfast as we did not have any (we find it better AND cheaper to go to the local supermarket).

The hotel is located a good 20 min walk from L'Opera and the department stores on Boulevard Haussman and about a further 10 mins to Place de la Concorde.

The best thing is that it is only around a 10 min walk from Dare du Nord and the Eurostar terminal.

All in all we had a pleasent stay in a quite hotel.

This rathole ruined our holiday. The room door opened only 40 degrees before jamming against the bed which although standard size was too big for the miniscule room. We had to feed our cases through the door before diving in after them. The promised bathroom turned out to have only a shower which was too small for this 15 stone man to use with ease and without scalding himself when brusshing against the tap. There was no airconditioning, which for a 3 star Parisian hotel is unacceptable in midsummer. The wallpaper was hanging off the wall.
There was no safe in the room. There were no facilities for making beverages in the room and although room service was advertised, it was not forthcoming (when my wife requested a cup of tea she was told she could only have coffee, but without milk or sugar!). The breakfast room had insufficient tables (1 for each 6 rooms in the hotel) had no windows, no ventilation and no airconditioning, causing the temperature to soar beyond the bearable and necessitating breakfast to be served in the room - unfortunately the staff were incapable of delivering the items ordered on its checklist the previous evening and, on one ocassion when the failed to bring the breakfast up, the accused us of lying about placing the order the previous evening. When we had complained about the standard of the room, requesting a move, we were told that would not be possible. To summarise, speaking with the experience of a retired police officer, I would rather spend 4 days in a police cell than in this "hotel", which was less comfortable and had a lesser quality of service.
