Booked on a last minute site for 77 euros, double including breakfast. For that amount was not expecting much in Paris--but very happily surprised by this hotel. Less then 5 min walk from Metro in quiet neighborhood. Room was cute and very clean. Apples on pillow a nice touch. Walls could have done with a touch-up, but we did not expect 5 stars. Breakfast was simple and good. Staff very friendly. Overall great hotel for the cost.!!!!

We stayed at Le Quartier Hotel for a week, and it was a complete disappointment! The very first day we had no televison and no electricity, and for that we were offered one (1) free breakfast! The next day we had to change rooms, and got one with electricity only in the hall.

Overall it was a greedy atmosphere. One had, for example, to ask for new plastic cups and mugs every day, since you did not get new ones automatically. Renovations were going on, and carpenters walked in and out of the room during the day. The only good thing - apart from the great location - was that some staff were very nice and tried their best to save the situation. Poor people!

Prices are rather high (around 90€ per night, excluding breakfast), and Le Quartier is a schoolbook example of how elements of contemporary design is added to cover up for basic faults. It looks cool and trendy on the outside, but lacks all the elements of a good hotel: personality, service, atmosphere, functionality, etc.

I wish I had listened to the trip advisor who here said he or she would never book an hotel with a website like Le Quartier's:

Too much lounge music, too many and flashy pictures, too much contemporary design (without being a design hotel) - those are warning signals for a big scam! And Le Quartier is one!

Myself and my fiance stayed at Le Quartier over Christmas and took advantage of a pay for 4, stay for 5 night special via the hotel's website. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from 3 metro stations (Republique being the better option in terms of train lines availabe).

The hotel staff were very accomodating and friendly. They provided advice on tours available and booked a tour on our behalf. The room was cleaned daily and supplies of coffee, tea, biscuits etc were topped up daily too.

The area is fairly quiet at night time and there are a number of cafe's, restaurants and bars to choose from nearby.

Nice hotel- better than a 2 star and very cheap. We stayed for 4 nights in August 2006 and enjoyed our stay. Trendy decor in the rooms and reception. Quite friendly reception staff who speak good English.

Room was small but clean and cosy. Really appreciated the kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits replenished every day. Room had a fan which kept the small space cold, TV with a few English channels, and hairdryer. Bathroom small but shower good. The only downside was that the room slightly smelled of smoke, but this cleared after a day or so. We particularly liked the apples on our pillows- an original touch...!

Breakfasts served in the lovely breakfast room with a good selection of cold meat, bread, cheese, jam, yohurt, fruit, croissants etc.

Close to Republique and Oberkamp Metro stations so good access to the centre. We found a carnet of 10 tickets was the cheapest way to use the Metro.

Plenty of local and non-touristy restaurants close by, serving cheap and delicious food. We especially liked 'La Plage Blanche' opposite from the hotel, where we were served and cooked for by the owner. Chocolate fondant really yum.

We booked through charmingparishotels.net who were good, and we booked a taxi to and from Orly via them. Taxi service fine but got lost both ways...

All in all, a great hotel, safe and quiet location, surrounded by restaurants and close to the Metro. We would definitely stay here again.
