“Excellent value 3 star hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We arrived at lunchtime and left our bags for safe keeping as (we had been told previously) the rooms were not ready until 3pm - no problem! Hotel located right by Rome Station, which is half a dozen stops from Gare Du Nord. From the hotel you can reach the Moulin Rouge, and Sacre Coeur within a 15 - 20 walk. Lafayette (good shopping) is about a 15 min walk away too).

The hotel is located in a fairly quiet street, (our room was at the front of the building); we had a triple room which was lovely, the beds were comfy and the room spotlessly clean. Tea and coffee facilties, a (powerful!) hairdryer for use in the bathroom and a "mini bar" / fridge provided in room also for convenience. We didn't have breakfast as wasn't included and it was cheaper to eat out of the hotel. We did have a couple of glasses of wine there though and they were reasonably priced for a hotel (€6.40 for 25cl).

The staff were very nice and obliging, all speak good English and nothing is a problem for them. They can help you with directions, tourist attractions advice etc.

Paris does not have to cost you a fortune - we found a lovely bar / bistro place 5-6 mins from the hotel on Rue Milan (off Rue Amsterdam) call BAR MILAN, there we had an excellent sirloin steak with chips and salad for €12.50 - 50cl of decent red wine cost from €6 for a carafe too. There are, of course, McDonalds, Subway, KFC etc (if you are really on a shoestring!) and obviously the Patisseries for croissants etc so you don't need to blow your budget unless you really want to!

We did all the usual tourist attractions- we chose the Red Bus Tour which is useful if you are a first timer to Paris and want to take in all the usual sights. A one day pass is €27 but 2 days is only 4 EURO more - the hotel have these tickets for sale at reception. The Metro is easy enough to use, you can buy a carne of 10 tickets either on the Eurostar or at the station but we just bought singles for convenience at €1.70 each (we didn't take more than 6 or 7 trips anyway).

I would also recommend the boat trip on the Seine (Capitane something or other!) which was lovely in the evening, a nice 3 course meal and drinks was about £60 and a two hour cruise on the Seine taking in Paris by night. You can book this online before you go if you prefer but it wasn't really that much cheaper to be honest.

As it was my first time in Paris I was a bit concerned about getting lost etc but the locals were also very helpful too, on more than one occasion we were asked where we needed to get to as we obviously looking like we needed help! We found them very accommodating and they really helped make our stay a very pleasant one.

I would definitely recommend the Berne Opera and would stay here again. Many thanks to the staff for making our first time in Paris very memorable.... TRES BIEN!

Room Tip: We sat in the smoking area one night and the trains from the nearby station could be heard so if you...

My friends and I have just enjoyed a few days at the Berne Opera. The hotel was clean, nicely decorated and a bit quirky, having been converted. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We had bed and breakfast there and the breakfast room was in what I would suspect was the wine cellar with a vaulted ceiling. There were plenty of places to eat within a short walk of the hotel. We got a hop on / hop off bus ticket for 2 days and on the first day got on the yellow route which came near our hotel. We soon realised that with a 10 minute walk we were quite central and able to get on the main route for the bus to take us to the famous sights of Paris. We would all recommend this hotel.

Good location 3 metro stops to the Sacre Coeur. Very helpful staff especially Karima who was great on mapping out my stops on the metro. Skilled on different languages, good breakfast option. Mini fridge in room which I got to keep the water, soda and the like that I bought at the supermarket outside the hotel. Safe in room is nice but it's on the floor of the closet, should be moved up to top shelf, I had to get down on hand and knees to open safe. I would reccommend this hotel to others that are going to Paris. Nice restaurants in the area too.

The facilities, services and amenities of this hotel are enough to be worth it's price, however if you are a traveller that minds the way you are treated by the staff , this hotel should please you. They go an extra mile to satisfy your needs, they are skilled on languages, nice and gentle. In addition, the location is not only accessible but allows you for the experience of watching locals on their day to day activities, very accessible and familiar neighborhood, however being a tourist do not expect to be treted as local on your ways around. The only issues I could notice: soft mattres and noise of the train specilaly on the 01, thus not for you if you need absolute silence to sleep. Good restaurant just in front, ice cream shop Amorino few blocks away. Optional breakfast on boulangeries available.

Room Tip: I specially recommend the room # 01 usually for special needs for those with baby, dog or those who...

The hotel is located so close to the metro and the neighborhood and surroundings are really nice, it's a short walk to Lafayette shopping and the opera, and there are lots of cozy restaurants close by. the staff was super-helpful, and answered everything we wanted to know. the room was great, and we had a lot of space even though we were 3 people, and we also had a really nice balcony. there were not a lot of noise in the night, so it was really great to be able to sleep with the window open when we wanted to. will definitely return!

Room Tip: 5th floor rooms have a real balcony! the ones in the lower floors has the small classic french ones...

although it is just a short one day stay, i am impressed with the service upon arrival, especially madam karima, who provided us with exceptional service and gave us directions to the places of interest and also tips to note when doing our sightseeing. apart from that, the location of the hotel is a mere ten to fifteen mins walk from la fayette, the popular shopping district in paris, which is good if u are buying lots of things over there! overall, a fantastic experience!
