“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

We stayed at the Relais du Louvre for ten days and really enjoyed it. The room was very comfortable and had a little private terrace adjoining it. Unfortunately, it was too cold and rainy to use, but it would be marvellous in the summer. The hotel is a block from the Louvre, so very convenient for tourism, and, as previous reviewers noted, it is also close to a Metro stop. There are loads of restaurants within walking distance and the staff is most helpful at giving suggestions, helping to make reservations, calling taxis, etc. Our room was very quiet, even with the window open. One small problem we had was that the bathtub is not really usable for handicapped people, but this is quite common in Europe, from our experience. I would highly recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Our room, No. 2, was on the ground floor and had a lovely little private terrace. Also very quiet s...

This is a lovely little hotel in a great location: across the street from the Louvre and St Germaine Church (where our daughter will be married in August) My room, though very small, was comfortable and clean. The staff was very kind and personable. This is a small hotel, it does not have a large lobby, but they have a book shelf with lots of guide books for you to use.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard are quiet. If you are a large person, do not get the single room as...

Our family of three stayed at Le Relais du Louvre for a week, and we could not have been happier with our accommodations and the service we received. The location is fantastic; in addition to being across the street from the Louvre (!), a Metro Station is a block away. It was easy to stroll across the Pont Neuf and explore Île de la Cité. Our room was comfortable, and spotless. Sophie and Nathalie and the rest of the knowledgeable staff provided exceptional service (including helping us deal with a medical emergency by quickly calling a pharmacy around the corner.) I cannot imagine staying anywhere else while in Paris; we really felt at home in this gem of a hotel.

This is a tiny hotel literally across the street from the Louvre....and also a beautiful old church whose gargoyles protruded almost into our window. The staff were superbly helpful and friendly and all hours of day or night.

The room itself was tiny and very noisy with the window open....which was necessary as the air conditioning was turned off and it was exceptionally warm for March. Closed it was much quieter so I'm sure it is fine most of the time.

My only negative is that the hotel arranged airport transport which turned out to be a van which picked up a number of other passengers scattered all over the city. It took over an hour to get to Charles de Gaulle and we nearly missed our flight. Take a cab!

Just a word first to thank you for your nice comment on our Hotel. Concerning the van to the airport, we actually propose 3 different services: regular Parisian cabs (work on meter), private driver (55 euros for 2 people) and shuttle (40 euros). In fact the shuttle may have between 0 and maximum 3 stops on the way to the airport but when we call to make the reservation THEY indicate us the pickup time which depends on your destination (which airport and which country), the traffic at the requested time and the number of stops. I am sorry if you did not become from us the precise description for that service and I will in any case communicate with the staff to make sure it is clear for everybody here. Concerning the air conditioning, it works individually and you just needed to ask the desk as it takes us a minute to swith it on in a room. In the summer, they are all on anyway but in the winter we keep them off (until a guest requires) because we saw often that people by mistake had both air conditioning AND heating on the same time running in the room. Kind regards. Sophie Aulnette General Manager

Before we went to Paris we booked hotel, and stuff was really helpful organizing our transport from airport to hotel. On our arrival we got lovely card and a bottle of champagne as it was our honeymoon. :))). Hotel is very central and very clean. Just next to Louvre, Notre Dame, D Orsay, Pompidou, Champs Elysees, Latin Quorters-where you can get cheap food . Not cheap but cheaper then everywhere else. Metro is just on the corner from hotel, even though we walked everywhere except to Montmarte.
Overall experience is very positive and we would recommend to everyone!

We arrived at Le Relais du Louvre to find our room was unavailable due to extenuating circumstances. The manager could not have been more apologetic, and quickly went about the work of finding a room for us... right next door with a reduced price! I cannot review the hotel, obvioulsly, but the two staff members I dealt with were most accommodating, helpful, and thoughtful. In the end, it mattered not that we stayed next door. We spent most of our time in this magnificent city, not in our room. I did learn that I must confirm reservations when traveling overseas. I recommend everyone do the same. Here is the e-mail I received from the manager of the hotel upon my arrival home :

We never play with over bookings as many hotels do because we have mostly regular guests and also because we know that our guests have really chosen our hotel rather than another one and we don’t want them to be disappointed. But on Saturday morning, a lady from Brazaville who was in our hotel already since more than 10 nights just informed the receptionist that she was staying 2 more nights. When Nathalie explained her that her booking was supposed to finish on Saturday morning she told her a “nice” story that she had informed a girl at the desk a few days ago about it. This is not true (we are 100% sure because we were full on that night already since many days) but it was impossible to have her leave the hotel (5 huge suitcases). She just left the hotel that morning without leaving any chance to Nathalie to do something. Also Nathalie works only one day a week and she got in panic in front of the situation.

Anyhow, what happened to you was not fair because you had to change hotel because of another person and I am really sorry about the.

I just hope that you will still think of visiting us. I have added a note on your file about what happened so that we all know about it and we will in any case do something for you if you do us the pleasure to come back.

Frédérique told me that you were very disappointed but very friendly in front of the this special situation and I also wanted to thank you for that.

Kind regards

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, along with my 13 year old daughter. Prior to our arrival, the hotel staff were really great at answering some queries I had, which was very reassuring. On arrival, the hotel and staff were all we could have hoped for. Our room was pleasant and quiet, with a well laid out bathroom. The location was perfect, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
