We are a couple in our 60's in the US that were attracted by this hotel based on the description, location, and reviews, and selected it for a four-day vacation in Paris in June 2013. After calling the hotel phone number several weeks ahead, we talked to the manager, a very pleasant man named Frank, and we made the reservation for four nights, giving him our Visa card number to guarantee the reservation. This was followed immediately by an e-mail from us documenting the reservation as had been suggested by Frank. But when we arrived to the hotel in the indicated date, it turned out we did not have a room because Frank had cancelled the reservation and the hotel was full. The staff at the desk located Frank, who remembered the conversation and getting the Visa card number but denied having received our e-mail. Although the staff did help us find another hotel, it was about double the price and the location was not what we wanted. When you add up the lost time and additional aggravation after hours of travel, this was a very bad beginning of our 4 days in Paris. To be fair, let us add that we had an exchange of e-mails with Frank after we were at the other hotel, where he offered to move us to a third hotel at a discounted price, which we refused as we did not want to keep moving in such a short vacation; he refused our counteroffer that he contributed to the additional cost in the hotel we were already staying.

We really regret not to have been able to welcome you in the hotel : if you remember well , when you called us , we convened that you would send a mail to confirm your booking , and that we would then answer by mail , to reconfirm dates and conditions. We never got your mail , for some reasons , and thought you had chosen another hotel . We had no way to call you to check.

Believe it was neither our will , nor our interest , not to book your stay.
When you arrived , we were very sorry , and offered you a choice of hotels . You chose a 5 star hotel ( we are a 3 star hotel ) , more expensive of course.
Then , as you mention , we were in contact during your stay , and proposed to welcome you in other well located and cheaper 3 star hotels , we also offered to pay the cab to the hotel you might choose, but you preferred to stay in the 5 stars hotel.
We would be very happy to welcome you next time , and offer you a special discount on the best available price of the period , as we regret that misunderstanding.
