Look this.... "is what it is"... 400 year old building, in need on some TLC..no TV..no WIFI...no lift....but clean sheets, clean floors, great view, and the most central part of Paris you could ever want...why are you in Paris if TV and wifi are so important...tone hiding has been sold and will be turned into private apartments...so I am glad I had the opportunity.

Room Tip: Ask for the second floor....ground floor is the front door, first floor is reception breakfast room...

The Henri IV is our favorite hotel in Paris, a cosy, small hotel in the heart of the town. Don't expect luxury but you get all you need for a decent price (breakfast included). Nice little rooms, very clean and freshly renovated in pink and grey with large windows showing to the pretty Place Dauphin. The location on the "Isle of the Cite" is ideal as all the important sightseeing places are in walking distance. Just opposite is a cute little restaurant called " Ma salle a manger" where you can get tasty dishes for reasonable prices.
The only disadvantage of the hotel: as it is a very old building there is no elevator and the staircases are very narrow. Ask for a room on the first floor.

I stayed at the Hotel Henri IV in late October. I had read past Trip Advisor reviews (some positive, some not so) and can honestly say if you are looking for a fantastic location and "just a place to sleep", this is it - don't waste your money booking anything else. We stayed in a double room on the 5th floor. The room was small and it is very basic (no fridge, etc - just one double bed, one single bed and a bathroom), however the beds were very comfortable and the view was so... Paris :). The stairs were not as bad as others have said, keeping in mind we are of reasonable fitness. The stairs are tight and not that great for getting luggage up and down but manageable. The staff, we had one friendly lady and one not so friendly lady. The not so friendly lady still helped us with our questions though. Breakfast is basic but still tasty. The coffee was good. The best thing about this hotel is the location, just a minute walk from Pont Neuf metro and not far from other metro stations, 10 minutes walk from the Lourve, Notre Dame and other major attractions. It honestly was all we could have asked for. The only reason I give it four stars is because of the very basic amenities. If all you are looking for is a room to sleep in after exploring Paris - this is it. Do not hesitate to book.

Room Tip: If you have lots of luggage or struggle with stairs, ask for a room on one of the lower floors

Stayed for two nights with my teenage daughter on her first trip to Paris and this place was the perfect choice, set on a beautiful square with the spires of Notre Dame visible over the rooftops. We got to try two rooms as had been told on booking that we would need to move rooms after first night so night one we were on first floor in a basic but clean room with beautiful old french windows to the square and original parquet flooring.Night two we were on the sixth floor (no lift but easily walked) in another pretty, clean room with a balcony that was a suntrap the following morning - just beautiful. If you want a real taste of Paris and a place you will remember for pretty much as cheap as it gets in Paris, this is the place. We found the staff really helpful, amazing location off the Pont Neuf and close to several metro stations. Our bags were moved for us when changing rooms and stored on the last day. Just wish we could have stayed a bit longer but will definitely return to this hotel - special spot .

Room Tip: sixth floor have balconies.

What a great location! minutes from metro and within walking distance of Notre Dame, Tuileries and the Louvre....in a beautiful square and rooms overlook the square. Even though there is no lift or wifi, the rooms are better than most other hotels as they are roomy (big enough for bags and still able to move around the room), clean with shower and toilets plus breakfast is included with the best chocolate chaud. I have read past comments and cannot understand why people would criticise this hotel....perfect place to stay and everyone of the staff were more than helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay her again

Room Tip: Try and get a lower storey room to prevent having to walk up too many stairs!

The hotel is in a really good location - Close to all of the main attractions + 10min walk from train station but to be honest the rude staff just left a bad taste in our mouth.

We were greeted by a very unfriendly lady in reception who refused to speak to us in English (So we had to guess what she was saying... Although she chucked in a few words here & there) and this continued throughout our stay.

The view from the room was very 'French' and even though the room itself was comfortable I wouldn't return simply due to the 'atmosphere' that was created by the staff..

Shows that a smile/politeness can do a long way!
