I have found the Ministère to be reliable and pleasant. The staff speak English, but the hotel is not your average bland Ibis or similar. I recommended that my elderly parents stay there a couple of years ago, and they, too, found it most pleasant.

“The worst experience in Paris”

We made a reservation to hotel Du Ministere more than 1 month before our arrival which was confirmed by the e-mail from the hotel. When we arrived to the hotel we were informed that the hotel is overbooked, the reservation was a mistake and they can't accomodate us. The manager-owner was exceptionally rude and nasty, she never apologized to us, instead she was screaming. Meeting people like the one that run Hotel du Ministere makes you want never to come to Paris again.
