“Not too bad...Not Great...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

It was a good location right in front of the subway station. Little cafes everywhere and you can walk directly to the Opera in 10 min or so. Hotel was busy, couldnt check in early, left our bags there and took a walk. No upgrades even though I am a Platinum member...no free internet....no breakfast... I guess that's Paris...a lot of No's. I asked for 2 days for an iron....the first night, it never even came...the second night...1 hour+ for the iron...I guess there were a shortage of Irons. The shower was clogged up so it was like a puddle in the toilet....took until the next day to fix. Oh well..... I would only stay at this hotel again if it was free ( points) and for the location.

Room Tip: higher floor..

Our room was on 5th floor overlooking street and was very quiet. Only immediate neighbours disturbed us! Felt it was a good holiday inn with nice staff and very good location. Only hitch was when the very heavy shelf under sink crashed onto my toe. It was cut, swollen and black by next day but they seemed uninterested. They fixed shelf the next morning but never asked how I was or if I needed a doctor. Very disappointing response to a quite bad injury.

Room Tip: High floor overlooking street

We stayed at the holiday inn opera for fıve days and it was very good. First the excellent parts: the reception staff, all of them were very friendly but mohammed went out of his way to make our stay very comfortable, he was very polite , accommodating and made sure the stay was perfect . Our room was large with two single beds, newly furnished and a large bathroom with all the amenities. The air conditioning worked well and there was a coffee/tea facilities as well as a fridge all of which are essential for a good stay. Most importantly we also had wifi in the room, included in our room rate along with breakfast. The wifi worked fine except for one day -sunday- where it didi not work at all in the hotel. Was not a major problem though as that was the day when we were out all day.
This is a good hotel to stay in Paris because it provides all the main necessities, clean, well furnished room with functionimg AC and wifi and very friendly, helpful staff.
Breakfast was ok, but on our 2nd day there was a problem with the hotel records and the person at the breakfast room wanted me to pay but it was sorted out quickly with a telephone call to the reception.
The location is ok, we took the bus after one try at the metro-hot, crowded, unsafe, extremely dirty with s strong smell of urine. So metro was out for us. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel and 39 and 48 took us directly to louvre, saint germaine de pres, and 20 directly to the opera- which is 10 minutes walk anyway. The bus 74 goes to blanche , right in front of moulin rouge where we took the petit train de mont matre.
All in all it was a good choice for paris as it was close to grands magasins, the museums and the roissy bus to the CDG.

We have been at Holiday Inn Opera Grand Boulevards two years ago, when they were doing the final arrangements. I loved to be there, that time. But our experience this last week was not so good.
I would try to point ups and downs.
First Up: Location, location, location. The underground is just at the door.
Second up: breakfast, quite good and in a lovely place. Staff there is amiable and always trying to help.
Down: My experience when arriving at the hotel: We arived late in the evening as the train from London was rather delayed. We were given our room. It was 30° outside. The first thing I did was to put on the AC. It does not work! When we went to the lobby to tell them this and to ask to be changed from that room, they told us that there was the only room available at the hotel . They suggested that if we leave the lights of the bath on and the doors opened, a little cold would go into the room!!.If one opens the door, the noise from the busy street where it is, annoys sleeping. It is true that they promised to give us another room the following day but it is not what one expects from a Holiday Inn having paid almos 170 euros. Or is it what one must expect of Holiday Inn nowadays?
The next morninng we were moved to a better room and upgraded( Mohamed did what he told us he would do) but I saw other people in the room we were given before. So, it was not fixed, I guess, and it is only question of complaining.
The AC in the new room was too strong. So, probably they have to fix it but it would be better to have had it fixed before high season,.The room was larger than the other but the second and third day , they did not put the ammenities. The bath in both rooms were really clean and new.
Overall: a good experience but overpriced. And, surtout I feel Holiday Inn is not being as one expects it to be.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with A/C

Exactly what you would expect from a Holiday Inn hotel - clean, comfortable and easy. However, the rooms are way overpriced and you can find others in central Paris for much cheaper. I was also in a 1st floor room facing the street which was loud for most of the night forcing me to wear earplugs as well. Probably wouldn't use again.

Friendly, clean rooms, initial room was on the 8th floor and tiny, got it swapped for a larger street side room. Very good stay. Very content. Bed a bit soft but nothing quite like your own bed. Breakfast was good and an ideal location. Lots of decent restaurants in the area as well.

Adjoining rooms made it spacious for a family of four. The desk staff are very friendly and helpful. It is on a noisy street, but with the air conditioning the noises are blocked out so it was good night sleeps. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices
