“Unspeakable food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012 via mobile

Have been in Paris for 3weeks and eat 2 meals a day out. Given tourist menu, served burnt/flavorless food. Come to Paris often and this was the worst food ever! And the wine was mediocre at best

“A wonderful meal in a true Parisian restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2011

This small restaurant is off the beaten path. We came across it while on a walking tour earlier in the day and decided to go back for dinner. The owners were a little hesitant at first to seat us as we did not have a reservation. They spoke very little English and we have no French, but managed to communicate well enough our choices for wine and food. The restaurant soon filled up around us and, when our food began to arrive, we knew why! The food was tasty, creative and "lick your plate clean" delicious. There appeared to be mostly locals eating there. We will be sure to go back to the Bistro de la B next time we are in Paris.

“On a side street, Left Bank Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

There are a huge number of restaurants crammed into small streets near Bd. St. Michel, but we wanted a more Parisian experience and found Bistro de la B. at 9 rue de Bievre a few blocks west of the touristy area. Only a block from the river, this small restaurant was delightful. The menu of 3 courses was reasonably priced and the service warm. Enough English is spoken to make everything clear. We enjoyed our meal and particularly the willingness to make accommodations in the menu for our granddaughter who was traveling with us. Good selection of reasonably priced wines. There is also a bar area separate from the restaurant.

“Avoid this restaurant”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

We went to rue de la Bievre to eat in another establishment down the street, which unfortunately was closed for holidays, so we went to Bistro de la B. What a mistake! There were very few people, but it was raining so we decided to stay. We took the 15,50€ menu, but she came back twice to say that they did what they were offering (which I may agree can happen sometimes). Since I do not eat chocolate and they had no more strawberry tiramisu, I asked for a dessert ‘a la carte’ - after a straight 'no' from the waitress, I asked if she could double check with the chef if it was possible. This is when we received 2 cremes brulees…. (served warm with a layer of water on it - definitely not fresh)! When we asked for the bill I mentioned the problem and said we would not pay for these desserts (all in all we have taken on € 3.30 off the bill). Immediately I felt he was angry but we were not asked what was wrong - just that we did not know what it was supposed to be and that we were welcome to NEVER come back! I assure you it will be the case!
