“Quirky experience but worth if it you love her”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

This is a small museum, only two rooms, run by a Frenchman who doesn't speak English and seemed annoyed by dealing with anyone who doesn't speak French. It was a bit of a challenge to locate and access the museum. There were two codes - to get in the front door and once inside, the access to the apartment. I understood most of his directions in French but had to have my hotel call for me to make sure I had the correct instructions. Once there, you can see some of Edith Piaf's possessions and most notably, many letters she wrote. The curator has a lot of interest and knowledge of her life, and he met her when he was young. However, my French wasn't strong enough to take full advantage of his experience. I did buy a CD and a collector level boo of her life which are nice souvenirs to have.

“Well worth a visit for Edith Piaf fans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

A beautfully created small museum located in two rooms of Bernard Marchois' apartment. Bernard, a fan of Piaf's since he was 16, is a mine of information about her life - as long as you can speak some French, as he doesn't speak English. You need to call to make an appointment to visit and the opening days and times are limited - see www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2012/jun/01/edith-piaf-museum-paris - but it is well worth it.

When asked where we could hear someone singing Piaf songs in Paris now, Bernard recommended lunch at Chez Louisette in the Marché aux Puces. The singing's not brilliant, but there is a wonderful atmosphere and good food which makes the whole experience well worth the while. Call to find out when they are open.

Next year is the 50th anniversary of Edith Piaf's death and many events are being organised in Paris which Bernard will have information about nearer the time.

“I fell in love with the amazing little sparrow when I was 10”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

Musee Edith Piaf is in a very small apartment in Paris. The private museum owner has bought her personal belongings and memorabilia. He also sells some recordings & stamps. We've been there twice and would highly recommend for those love Edith Piaf. It's kind of a challenge making the reservation, getting the code to enter the apartment but worth the effort as it is a nice adventure. It is worth noting that it is around a 20 minute walk to Cimetière du Père Lachaise to say hello and good bye to her.

“Definitely worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2004

Le musee Edith Piaf is a great experience for anyone, even if you don't have much knowledge of Edith Piaf, or french music. This private museum consists of two rooms of a Belleville apartment, covered in photos and paintings of Piaf as well as her personal belongings. You will be able to see some of her private letters, maps and photos tracing her life story, furniture from her apartment, her famous little black dress, books, cds, vinyls and a lot more. With Piaf's music playing throughout your visit, you will be entranced by this woman's history. Do not hesitate to ask questions and don't forget to leave a donation on your way out. Spend the rest of the day exploring Belleville to see another side of Paris and visit the Parc de Belleville (which has a great view of the city if you climb up the steps), and Cimitiere de Pere Lachaise.
There is also a lot of North African, Greek and Turkish restaurants in the area if you need to take a break!
