We usually stay in hotels when we go on holidays, but knowing that Paris hotels are typically smaller than US ones and that we planned on staying for 15 nights, we opted to rent an apartment instead. I spoke to the owner, Djaimi, before I sent her the rental amount. She was very affable and provided much information about the apartment and the surrounding location. The keys arrived well before our departure. The owners had also mailed us an information packet about the amenities in the apartment, a location map and sight-seeing tips. This proved most handy once we were in Paris. We ended up following some of Djaimi's recommendations.
The apartment is in a fantastic location - loads of nice cafes and restaurants, many of which we patronized during our time in Paris. There is also a boulangerie right across from the apartment, which was very convenient for getting our morning fix of Parisian breads. On the street parallel to Grenelle (rue Saint Dominigue) there are many cute boutiques to shop at, which was lovely.
Many of the tourist sites and museums are within walking distance from the apartment. The Eiffel is just around the corner! The La Seine is also nearby, so we went for leisurely walks frequently. Many of the tourist sites could be reached by walking along the Seine. For instance, I walked to Notre Dame Cathedral in about an hour. There are also two Metro stations nearby the apartment.
We encountered two problems in the apartment while there - the hot water ran out in the shower too quickly, and the water in the shower did not drain properly. We brought up both issues to Djaimi, and they were rectified swiftly.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the apartment, and I would not hesistate to recommend it to my friends and family!
