A pretty part of Paris, infinitely nicer than Ile de la Cite. Enchanting architecture and very safe atmosphere. Boasts many bijou restaurants, and fashion stores range from tacky to elegant. Stick to the calmer eastern end to avoid the throngs of posing tourists. We stayed on the island but were out most of the days, and found that when we wandered in the early morning/late evening, it was quite quiet and mostly locals.
