My husband and just returned from a five night stay at the Regina. As we are repeat guests I will refrain from commenting on the general character of this hotel as I have done so in my former reviews. We love this hotel. We are always greeted warmly by the staff, many of whom recognize us now. The service is excellent. The location is perhaps the best in Paris.
Prior to arrival I sent an email requesting our deluxe room with a nice view. The reservationist was very kind and booked us room 615, the corner room on the top floor. The rooms on the 6th floor have lower, irregular ceilings since they are built in to the roof line. They are decorated in Jouey fabrics. Our room had a larger footprint than many deluxe rooms, since there is a day bed in addition to the king sized bed. The bathroom is very large. There are two little balconies, big enough to walk out on to (but not large enough for two chairs). The views are probably the best in the hotel -- truly amazing! While I really appreciated the room for its uniqueness, I would not book it again ONLY because I am claustrophobic and prefer higher ceilings. Also, I noticed that the wear and tear in this room was a bit greater than in other deluxe rooms we have enjoyed. I did ask if we could be moved to a lower floor, but as the hotel was packed it was not possible. I would recommend this room to honeymooners, families with a young child (the day bed is perfect!), or those who love cozying up in a romantic Parisian garret room. Also, this room is super quiet! I have rated the hotel a four out of five this time ONLY because we did not enjoy our room as much as we have in previous visits. It is important when staying in a hotel to know what sort of accommodations you like best, and ask for them. The reservationist who booked our room was so lovely and gave us what she knew to be the best view in the hotel. She could not have known that we prefer the rooms with higher ceilings since I was not more specific. Next time, we will make a more specific room request. All and all, though, another charming stay at the Regina. We will be back!
