“Our Third Stay at the Regina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2011

We stayed at The Regina for six nights in late March. This was our third stay in our now favorite Paris hotel. We book Deluxe Rooms, which are very clean, well sized and comfortably appointed. We LOVE the old world charm and authenticity of the hotel. If you are accustomed to marble and granite and flat screen televisions with 700 channels and 24 hour room service, this is not the hotel for you. If you love old world charm, don't mind worn ruby red carpets, some creaky floors, and some chips on the furniture, consider this property. It is the REAL DEAL. You will feel a bit like stepping back in time. The service has always been gracious to us. My only criticism from this trip was the wireless internet access, which is costly and annoying. I just wish hotels would give it to us all and simply charge us all a bit more. It would make it so much easier. We love the English bar --- I recommend hanging out in the bar with a bottle of Champagne on a weekend night. They have a delightful pianist who plays slightly funky mixtures of show tunes, pieces from the Great American Song Book, and French folk songs. Love it, and love this hotel. We will be back again.

Eiffel Tour View overlooking the Garden of the Tuileries right next to the Louvre!!! Period furniture, this small luxury hotel is a gem. Decor and food are fantastic and this price is crazy reasonable as compared to other Paris Hotels. Could not find this one on Paris Tripadvisor Map. It is a shame as many will overlook this hotel that I have enjoyed twice now. I feel so strongly that this is my first ever review.

We just got back from our Europe vacation and stayed in Hotel Regina. The location was great and our room had one of the most beautiful views of the eiffel tower. At night we got to watch the tower light show with our doors open. We stayed on the 5th floor, room 517.

The hotel lobby is beautiful itself. The room is beautiful too. You have to love the old Paris charm, however. If you are a modern type of person, then this hotel and perhaps Paris in genreal is not really for you.

Anyway, the downside: breakfast is REALLY expensive for what you get. The room is particularly very small, even for Europe in my opinion. The walls are super thin. On the last night, we had to get up at 5:30 am for a flight. Our neighbors weren't particularly loud, but we could hear their entire conversation until they went to bed at midnight. On the flip side, us and our 2 year old was probably very loud for them at 5:30 in the morning.

The bed is extremely small, even for Europe standards. But since the room was so small, the bed had to be small.

Check in was at two, but our room wasn't ready until at least 3:30.

The staff was generally not very friendly, especially an asian girl at the night shift. We weren't asked if we wanted a child cot at check in and since I was distracted with a two year old that was ready to eat and nap, check in was taking so long, didn't know that the room/bed was so small (everywhere else he slept with us), I didn't ask for one. So that evening after we got back from dinner, I asked to have one sent to me and her response was "you didn't ask for one at check in" and I said "no" and she said "why???" and then proceeded to tell me that housekeeping had gone home for the day and they had no idea where stuff like that was. I find it odd that a hotel of that caliber doesn't keep at least one housekeeping person on staff 24 hours or has someone that is able to deliver baby cots, blankets, etc. after they leave.

BUT..overall, I did love the hotel and if it was just my husband and I and we had ear plugs, I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

A stay in the Hotel Regina is like a trip to another age, yet with all the necessary amenities. But, if you are the type of person that demands the most modern of everything and ostentatious accommodations, this is not the hotel for you. You may notice a worn bit of upholstery in the lobby or broken marble. Our suite, for example, was furnished with a mixture of antiques and modern pieces such as the bed and the television stand. The bathroom was spacious, clean and modern, if somewhat outdated by American standards.
Without a doubt, though, we thought this one of the best hotels we have stayed at in the world, bar none. The reason is simple -- the staff. Room service in first rate, the English bar romantic and subtle and the view from our room was scripted by a Hollywood writer.
We do not recommend the restaurant for breakfast. Not that the food is bad, but 32 Euros for a buffet is just a bit much, especially when there is a fine Bistro across the street from the hotel.
This hotel is a wonderful experience and we recommend it very highly.

Room Tip: For a spring vacation, book well in advance.

I've been to Paris before but this is by far the best location I've stayed in. It's within walking distance to practically everything...the Place Vendome, the Opera district, the Eiffel Tower...and the Seine, the Louvre and the Musee D'Orsay are on your doorstep. In addition to that, the hotel is fantastically ornate and oozing with old-world Parisian charm. My room (a single -- with a king bed!) was what I would consider to be typically Parisian...VERY high ceilings, moldings all over, lavish curtains and bed coverings, bright colors, antique furniture, claw-foot tub, massive pedestal sink. I was only here for one night but I wanted to stay for MUCH longer. I will be back FOR SURE!

We stayed two nights at Regina Hotel last month. Based on previous reviews, I expected a stylish and elegant hotel. Instead, it was a rather depressing experience. Our room on the 2nd floor was quite old and certainly not to our taste (who likes red carpet, maroon couch and yellow curtains ?) and the bathroom dates back from the 50s. Absolutely no view as our room was overlooking the inside courtyard. Worst, we could hear our neighbour's snoring and TV and smell his smoking very early in the morning (even though we were on a non smoking floor). Unless you get a suite with better soundproofing and a view on the Eiffel tower, I would recommend you check other options. Only positive point is that staff is indeed nice and polite.

We stayed here last fall, OMG, what a hotel. Just fantastic, cant thing of a thing I didnt like about it. The view was stunning. We stayed in a corner suite with a view of the Eiffel and walking distance to the all the beautiful sites of Paris. Louvre is literally next door. Seine is a beautiful walk through parks and around fountains.
Food was fantastic.
Bed...I closed my eyes, next thing I know, its morning.
Service...Very nice and helpful.
Price...high, but you get what you pay for...you want a classy hotel with a spa steam shower and panoramic view of the Eiffel? Yeah, your gonna pay for it.
Would definately go back!
P.S. for Louvre tickets...pay no attention to the line that goes into the pyramid that looks horribly long...get them from the conseirge at the hotel and you will be in the louvre skipping the line. Another reason i loved this hotel.
