“Great access to all Paris by Metro, great walking distance shopping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Family stayed, took 2 connected rooms. It's expensive (everything in Paris is) and I agree, has a way to go before becoming a Hilton. But don't judge on American standards. Rooms on Executive level were quite
large. Yes, a little outdated and to add to this fun, we were awakened at 0800 to the sounds of construction and building repair.

My caution is that the street side rooms (on rue Saint Lazare) are very loud (waaaaah waaaaah sirens very busy street).

Until it's really a Hilton consider the Best Western on the other side of the Gare.

Nevertheless - no regrets, we all had a great breakfast every day (it's pricey at €30, so make sure it's included in your room price) and I would stay here again no problem!

This is a property which is being rebranded and improved to be a Hilton. The owners must have paid alot as they are operating under the brand but are a mile from being a Hilton.

Items not yet up to standard
1) Towels - small and cheap
2) Shower - no thermostatic value so ran hot and cold
3) Bath - the must pay for water by the sq metre - tiny baths
4) Welcome - still learning the welcome !
5) Bar service - I had a voucher for a Drink and Tapas - I was given the drink and no one offered the tapas (and it was not busy)
6) Decor - very retro (1970s) old and worn out
7) Cleanliness - a mile off Hilton standards - even saw a mouse in the Bar under a sofa

I have stayed at a number of UK properties being rebranded and the staff embrance the brand and culture and the oweners invest to improve the hotels

My favourite in London is the Doubltree Tower of Bridge which is a rebranded City Inn/ Mint

In Paris make the effort stay at La Defense Hilton - that meets all the right standards (and the vue down the Champs Elysee into the centre is impressive)

This could be great when its finished - look at what they acheived with the old railway hotel at St Pancras - but they need to spend the money and have a clear vision - a coat of paint will not be enough.

Room Tip: Go to La Defense

The Concorde Opera Hotel is a newly renovated hotel [in fact still working on renovating parts of it]. Rooms ar spacious, well furnished. Breakfast is served in a pleasant way, rich and tasty. Staff very helpful making the stay a pleasant one. The hotel is situated near Gare Lazare and Metro lines making transportation easy to distant parts of the city. Main touristic attractions are at short walking distance away. Highly recommended!!

Although well located and quite charming in the lobby, this is a very disappointing hotel. The room was quite small and very, VERY tired. The carpet was dirty, furniture was old, marked, and chipped, and electrical outlets were hanging from the walls. The air conditioning didn't work properly either. In summary it was a really depressing room.

Breakfast the next morning wasn't much better. Service was prompt enough, but the selection was poor and the environment cramped and lacking in atmosphere.

I'd never stay in this hotel again.

Hired a superior room for four nights. Bathroom was dirty, dusty and full of stains and paint bladders. Please, check pictures. And that for a superior room costing more than € 300,- per night!
During the four days only one day a WIFI connection was available, not in the whole hotel.
Every complaint was answered with a friendly smile and the answer "sorry, we are renovating". But don't ask then € 300,- for your hotel room!
Another room was offered. This one was a little bit better, but very smelly. Ultimately a discount of 20% was given (still a price of € 250,- per night for a dirty bathroom) and a bottle of Minervois (costs € 4,- at LeClerc supermarket). Many people were complaining at the reception.

Room Tip: Check bed and bath room first before paying .... !

Dear Kalkeren,

Please do accept our sincere apologies for not having met your expectations.
Since mid-April 2014 the hotel is undergoing full and comprehensive refurbishments throughout all areas of the hotel. We are expecting to have all works finalized by February 2015 and be officially HILTON branded and since yesterday, a new wi-fi system is operationnel.
Hoping you would allow us another chance,
Regards,
Pauline

Thank God we only booked one night at this hotel. I understand that the hotel is undergoing major renovations, but the place is a disaster area. No lobby, shabby rooms, no air conditioning in the rooms, frayed carpets, worn furniture, dirty bathrooms, uncomfortable bedding, and a nice big bill for a night's stay. I feel extremely cheated.

Stayed one night, assumed this would be Hilton quality. It is not, it's awful and I wouldn't book this hotel again, even if it was free. Rooms, baths are terrible, peeling paint, broken tiles. I saw another review here that called it old world charm, I love old world charm, but this isn't it. I would compare this to a youth hostel. The breakfast dining area was filthy too. I will say the location is great and the lobby is nice too, but that would be the only positives.

Room Tip: Don't stay here
